Welcome! I am a warm, non-judgemental and real person. One of my basic tenants is we, as people, are doing the best we can, and sometimes our conscious or subconscious "plan" to take care of ourselves is just not working anymore. Sometimes we need to develop a new “plan” but that can be difficult and we need help. The relationship with ourselves, family, friends and our community is a pillar to good health and well being. However things get in the way….like trauma, substance use, addiction, depression, anxiety, loneliness, illness, & fear. I want to support your concerns and help you improve your sense of wellbeing.
In our first session we will complete your history, talk about your goals and develop your treatment plan.
I am respectful, authentic and collaborative. I am a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist and a Certified Clinical Supervisor. After earning my LCSW and LCAS, I continued my training with over 50 hours on the Americans Sciences of Addictions Medicine Manual, over 200 hours in Gestalt Therapy and currently being trained in EMDR.
My clients are looking to expand their self awareness and develop insight and tools to initiate and maintain change.
Exploring the relationship between core values, feelings and behaviors can help enhance our self-awareness. We can then support the development of coping skills to choose behaviors, modify our thoughts and shift our feelings.
"Any event that has a lasting negative effect on the self or psyche is by its nature "traumatic." EMDR therapy is a comprehensive approach that addresses the physiological storage of memory and how it informs experience. Change is understood as a byproduct of reprocessing due to the alteration of memory storage and the linkage of adaptive memory networks." EMDR institute
I work from a framework that we have an inherent need to relate to others, ourselves and our communities and I help you do this by enhancing your self awareness. With deeper understanding you will be able to learn new insight and skills, and repair the relationship with yourself, and if you are interested, with others.
Trauma and relational ruptures shape how we see ourselves & the world around us. It directly impacts our relationships, self perception, coping skills, self esteem, etc. A common way to manage the impact of trauma is through unhealthy or addictive behaviors. I can offer you guidance through intense emotional experiences with non-judgment.
My framework is based on the principles of increasing your awareness, freedom, and self-direction. I will help support you move through your change process. I also believe that exploring and understanding how our feelings, thought and behaviors are related can impact our wellness, and bringing a mindful approach supports identifying and understanding the mind body connection to health.
