New to Grow
Hello and welcome! My name is Mistie Price and I am Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with 24 years of experience. Taking the first step to start therapy requires courage and so I first want to commend you for taking that step. My practice is built on the belief that you deserve a safe, non judgmental space to explore what ever life challenges you are facing. I combine my years of clinical experience with the evidence based methods and practices for a collaborative and compassionate approach to help you reach your goals! I primarily work with adults of all ages; however I do have 14 years of experience in working with children and adolescents. Because this is a virtual practice I will accept clients ages 17 and up. We can work together to navigate any issues or challenges you may be facing. I have two decades of experience working with a variety of mental health disorders including but not limited to; Depression, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, ADHD, PTSD, Domestic Violence, and Substance Abuse.
In your first session you can expect an introduction and opportunity for us to establish a therapeutic rapport at a pace that you feel comfortable with. There is no pressure to dive right into trauma or past issues; and instead we will discuss what brought you into therapy and what you hope to achieve. I believe that you are the expert in your life and I will be here to guide and help you along the way. We can review your concerns, and determine a plan that you feel will best suit your needs. Think of it as an opportunity to share your story in a safe private space and learn how I can help. I will also answer any questions you have. Most initial sessions may take approximately 50-55 minutes where you will get my undivided attention and respect. I do ask for my clients to make sure they are also in a safe quiet space where you will feel comfortable.
Something I want you to know is that although we can work together to determine what therapeutic approach best suits your goals; I typically focus on three modalities; these include the following: CBT, DBT, and SFBT. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy allows me to guide my clients through an active, skill based approached to identify and restructure negative thought patterns as thoughts often influence our emotions and behaviors. Dialectical Behavior Therapy is where we can use mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation to help you achieve a balance between acceptance and change. Solution Focused Brief Therapy focuses on solutions and your strengths to provide a collaborative future focused approach to help you with real solutions. My approaches will stand out because although you will most likely find me very easy to talk to because I offer an empathic understanding I can also push you when you need some gentle guidance and motivation. I am always completely honest and respectful with my clients and I will hold you accountable. We will work together to accomplish your goals. My hope is you never feel as if you have wasted your time or regret starting therapy. My overall goal is to make you feel empowered and leave our sessions feeling stronger and hopeful about your future.
My ideal client is anyone willing to seek help, even if they’re unsure of the exact type of support they need. We can work together to determine the best course of action. I firmly believe that everyone who has tried therapy has something valuable to gain from it. I am open to working with anyone who is committed to taking the first step. My only requirement is that you respect my time. This means you will either keep your appointment or notify me as soon as possible if you are unable to attend. I am highly reliable and can be expected to arrive on time, every time, unless there is an unforeseen emergency.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is a practical and goal oriented type of talk therapy. Based on the idea that your thoughts, feelings, and actions are all deeply connected. In CBT, you learn the way you think about a situation directly can shape how you feel emotionally and how you react. Instead of focusing heavily on your distant past, CBT challenges you to look at your current daily life and identify unhelpful or negative thought patterns that are making you feel stuck. During sessions, we can build concrete skills to challenge those thoughts and safely change habits that will give you active tools to manage stress and anxiety on your own.
Dialectical behavioral therapy is designed to help people who experience very intense and overwhelming emotions. The word dialectal simply means trying to balance two opposite ideas at the same time. Instead of just talking about your problems, we will focus on building specific concrete skills to handle your emotions without losing control. The main goal of DBT is to help you build a life that feels meaningful and worth living by teaching you how to manage overwhelming emotions.
Solution focused brief treatment therapy is a short term, goal oriented approach that focuses on your strengths and your future rather than analyzing your past problems or diagnosis. Instead of spending weeks exploring where the struggle came from, we can target what your life will look like once the issue is are resolved. This is a highly collaborative and fast pace talk therapy designed to help you get “unstuck“ and move toward your ideal future. You can expect to set small, realistic, “right now”goals, and what changes can be made right away.
