I am a licensed professional clinical counselor. My masters is from Eastern Kentucky University, and I have been practicing counseling for over 8 years. I started as a volunteer crisis counselor with my local rape crisis center, and worked to become a board approved supervisor in my field. My passion is in the treatment of complex trauma, especially serving those who have experienced issues related to the intersections of sexual violence, pregnancy, and postpartum issues.
First sessions move at your pace. A trauma therapist worth their salt moves at your pace and works diligently to ensure you feel the environment is calm and grounded, and a good place to start building a strong foundation to do some tough work. I'm always welcoming of feedback and requests so that the therapeutic relationship can start out on a good foot focused on you.
I am calm, grounded, and confident, and I am also direct. I am easily able to center you in your own process so that you can feel empowered to self-advocate.
I love working with mothers and helping them to foster their own sense of self-worth and confidence; my belief is that we all have inherent value, but -- especially as mothers and caretakers -- we put ourselves last. I believe we can better serve others when we attend to our own needs as a priority.
I am trained and certified to provide EMDR, as well as provide consultation services to other therapists and practitioners. EMDR is an evidence based and highly effective intervention in the treatment of trauma.
