New to Grow
My name is Kendal and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Washington. I have been a therapist for 4 years and love doing so. I love being able to help clients struggling with every day life all the way to childhood trauma and being able to help them be the best versions of themselves that they can be.
During our first session, we will look at some assessments and get a baseline of where the client currently is. I will then work on building rapport and getting to know you on a deeper level as well as the client getting to know me to feel more comfortable with opening up about their struggles that brought them to therapy.
I have had great success with EMDR, CBT, and Solution Focused therapy. I find that meeting the client where they are currently is the most important. While we may have goals to work on anxiety coping skills for a particular session, if a member comes to me with struggles of finding food sources, which is a direct cause of their anxiety, we will work on finding food first as to (hopefully) remove that stressor. I have found in doing so, my clients respect that and feel they can come to me with any problem they are having, and we can work through it together.
I have worked with both children and adults. I find that virtually therapy works best with teens and adults who are capable of staying focused in a virtual setting. I have also found that I enjoy working with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and overall life stressors. I find that building rapport with all clients is key to maintaining a positive therapeutic relationship with clients, so that is the first step to getting started with each of my clients. Making the clients feel more comfortable will assist them with feeling like they can safely open up during therapy.
EMDR
I incorporate trauma processing virtually with using EMDR and a video session by sharing my screen for bilateral stimulation. This has helped numerous clients of mine with processing unresolved trauma.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I feel that all clients can benefit from developing healthy ways of coping, and incorporating CBT into my practice helps members grasp this concept smoothly.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Everyone needs to be able to be mindful, especially in high anxiety situations. Utilizing mindfulness in sessions can help not only coach my clients on how to practice mindfulness, but also give them the tool to use outside of sessions as well.
