New to Grow
Hello! My name is Rachel Fondren and I am a licensed independent clinical social worker and private independent practitioner. I graduated from the University of North Alabama with a Bachelors in Social Work and from the University of Southern California with a Masters in Social Work. Over the years, I have worked with individuals on a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, parenting problems, career challenges, OCD, ADHD, and Serious Mental Illnesses.
In our first session, I focus on getting to know you and what brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about your current concerns, your personal history, and any goals you’d like to work toward. This session is also a chance for you to get to know me, ask questions, and see if therapy feels like a good fit for you. By the end, we’ll begin identifying your main areas of focus and setting a direction for our work together.
What stands out about my approach is the balance between creating a warm, supportive environment and using evidence-based strategies to help clients reach their goals. I draw from approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), and mindfulness practices to help clients develop practical skills they can use outside of sessions. At the same time, I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship, because I believe lasting change happens when clients feel truly heard and understood. Clients often share that they leave sessions with both greater insight and concrete tools they can put into practice right away.
I am best positioned to serve adults and couples who are seeking support with managing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward, and they are motivated to make meaningful changes in their lives. I specialize in creating a safe, supportive space where clients can better understand their emotions, build healthier coping skills, and strengthen their relationships. My goal is to help clients not only reduce distress but also move toward greater self-awareness, resilience, and fulfillment.
