Hello! I bring 16 years of mental health experience along for your sessions. I consider myself a generalist and I'm happy to help you with any need or concern that you might have. Some of the areas where I have the most experience are depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and grief and loss. I work with almost all age groups however, I typically do not work with persons under the age of 18. If you are a minor, please consult with me before scheduling an intake and I will consider your need and my areas of expertise and help you determine our next steps. I am also no longer able to accommodate couples therapy. If you are seeking a couples therapy session I will be happy to assist you with a referral. I have spent the majority of my career working in a University setting and have helped many college-age adults make meaningful changes. I have also worked in behavioral health clinics and have experience working with clients that have been legally referred to therapy. If you would like to make an appointment and cannot find a time that works for you, please feel free to call me at my office (please leave a voicemail if I'm unavailable) or send me an e-mail and I'll see if I can move some things around to accommodate your need. 806-701-2601 or chris@beginningchange.com

Hello! I am a Doctor of Marriage & Family Therapy and currently a Licensed Professional Counselor. I currently have 8 years of counseling/clinical experience. As a LPC, my style is warm, non-judgmental, and compassionate. I use a mix of solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, narrative, and person-centered therapies. I aim to make clients feel comfortable and at ease while being attentive and open. I specialize in both outpatient and inpatient services treating military/veteran populations, PTSD/trauma, substance abuse disorders and addiction, co-occurring disorders, anxiety/depression/stress, ADHD, sports psychology and performance anxiety with student/professional athletes, and family/couples/relational and intimate relationships. Additionally, I have specialized experience in conducting clinical assessments of substance abuse patients, formulating behavioral health treatment plans, providing professional counseling to substance abuse patients, treating psychological conditions associated with medical complications, performing biopsychosocial/psychological evaluations of clients, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychotherapy for adolescents, teenagers, adults, couples, and family populations. There are countless theories, modalities, and orientations in the therapy world. This can be very confusing for those who simply are unsure what fits them. My biggest takeaway from this journey of mine is that it is not so much about a theory but rather active listening, creating context, and simply being there with the individual(s) looking for different perspectives to help guide a client to move forward is really what therapy is all about. I look forward to guiding you on your journey of faith, hope and wellness!

I’m amazed by human resiliency in all the forms that it takes. If you are reading this, you must have already demonstrated your own resilience in hundreds of ways. Some of these ways may not be serving you well, and some may actually be causing problems for you, particularly if they were developed in situations where your power was limited. There’s an indescribable beauty in helping people identify and adjust the way that they care for themselves to help maximize their potential for happiness and healthy relationships, and I would be honored to accompany you through such a process.

You have many choices when it comes to picking a counselor/therapist, but what is the most important thing to consider when choosing? Does the person appear to be kind? Do they have the qualifications to serve you? Does he/she make you feel comfortable and ease the anxiety you might be feeling regarding sharing such personal information so quickly? How does the office environment feel (telehealth or in the office)? More importantly, how quickly do you feel your exact problem is being addressed?

Hello, Welcome to my private practice. My fundamental approach to therapy is person-centered and based on solution-focused methods. I endeavor to provide a safe place for you to feel seen and heard. Together we will explore and learn about your deepest inner world. We will examine your current ways of coping and explore how to transform them to better serve your needs here and now. I can help you uncover the impediments to effectively dealing with the challenges that life can bring and consider alternative approaches that serve you better. On the whole, I see my role as being your guide in helping you identify the optimal and least disruptive path to your answers and your solutions. A guide is not just a fellow traveler – I will occasionally confront and disagree with you – but ultimately it is your path and your goal which I am privileged to witness and, at times, partake. On any fruitful journey, collaboration will be essential, and I am always joyful to begin our trek. I will place my trust in you as you do in me. My ultimate goal is to help you gain the self-esteem and self-compassion necessary to nurture strong and healthy relationships with those you care about in your personal and work life. Significant relationships are subtly re-negotiated every day and I believe no relationship is more important than your relationship with yourself.

Thank you for taking the first step of courage and making yourself a priority today. Opening yourself up and being vulnerable can be a tremendous step to your healing process. As Brene Brown says, “Vulnerability is not winning or losing, it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome.” You are showing up for yourself today! Although the first steps can be overwhelming, I can walk with you and help guide you on the journey of healing and peace. I will always provide a safe space of acceptance and non-judgement for you to share your emotional pain, grow to love and be kind to yourself, and find the peace you deserve to heal. Remember that you are worthy and deserving of being free of the emotional pain you are experiencing. Be kind to yourself. **If you are viewing my profile for your child (3-17 years of age), I provide a calming and accepting space to assist with regulating your child's emotions. Bitini Pannell, a licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, exhibits a profound dedication to supporting individuals facing mental health challenges, including trauma, depression, anxiety, and stress. Her professional journey, extending over 10 years, has been marked by a deep commitment to providing compassionate and effective care to her clients. Following her academic pursuits, Bitini initiated her career in counseling at a community mental health center, crisis field response, criminal justice/prison systems and hospitals. This role involved delivering therapy to individuals presenting a wide array of mental health concerns, often working with the most underserved and acute populations, thereby enriching her expertise in the field. Bitini's specialization encompasses trauma therapy and somatic therapy, but her therapeutic repertoire extends beyond these. She skillfully integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into her practice. CBT, a widely recognized psychotherapeutic treatment, helps clients identify and challenge distorted cognitions and develop more balanced and constructive thinking patterns. DBT, on the other hand, is particularly effective in teaching skills for emotional regulation, mindfulness, and distress tolerance, especially beneficial for clients with intense emotional responses or those exhibiting self-destructive behaviors. Additionally, Bitini utilizes mindfulness and solution-focused therapy techniques. Mindfulness encourages clients to engage with the present moment in a non-judgmental manner, enhancing their awareness and acceptance of their thoughts and feelings. This approach is instrumental in managing stress and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. Solution-focused therapy, with its future-oriented and goal-directed framework, aids clients in identifying and harnessing their strengths and resources to constructively address their problems. Her holistic approach, incorporating both mind and body through somatic therapy, is particularly effective for clients who have endured diverse traumatic experiences. These include childhood trauma, neurodivergence, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Understanding that each client’s experience is unique, Bitini meticulously tailors her therapy to align with their individual experiences and needs.

I am here by your side to create a safe space free of judgement, and provide individual support for your emotional growth. My role as a clinician is to stand with you, to walk with you, to cry with you as we maneuver through this journey of recovery from the past fears, learning new coping skills and positive mechanism that will assist in rebuilding a life you find worth living to the fullest.

I often reflect back to the period of time when I decided to enter the field of psychology and counseling.  There were many life challenges along the way that extended a hand in my decision to pursue a career in the world of behavioral health. I have spent the last 21 years growing as an effective clinician, learning along the way that achieving holistic health and reaping the rewards through genuine fulfillment, takes courage and calls for commitment of the mind, body, and soul. Commitment to therapy as a pathway to optimal emotional health is not inconceivable and is a journey you do not have to walk alone. Being a part of someone else's healing process, or "search for meaning" is an extraordinary experience and certainly a privilege.

While in therapy I will help you identify your inner strengths and regain control over your life. I will remind you to “not give up on yourself” and the goals you have for your life. I focus on you learning to truly love who you are, including your childhood, past, trauma, and hurt, as all of these experiences have impacted who you are, but they do not have to define you. I will place a high emphasis on building a strong rapport with you and making therapy more like a relaxed conversation. There is no need to feel ashamed or timid about sharing your experiences, as you did not come to me to be judged, you came to me for help, and that is what I am here to offer. I know therapy can be challenging to start and commit to, especially when it comes to making positive changes, so know that I will challenge you and ask you some hard questions, not to intimidate you, but to help you grow.

My name is Ann Kimbrough Johnson (otherwise known as Kim) and I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 24 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, families and individuals of diverse backgrounds. My treatment approach utilizes my diverse skill set and is based on a thorough assessment of my client’s goals and related needs. This individualized approach enables me to understand and meet my clients where they are and get them to where they need/want to be. I graduated with my Masters’ Degree in Social Work at the University of Houston, Texas. Since that time, I have devoted myself to the field of mental health by empowering clients to develop the inner strength and related skills they need to endure and overcome life’s many challenges. Life frequently can seem unfair and confusing. I understand that this can leave you feeling lost, overwhelmed, and wondering why. I recognize that despite the different experiences we encounter on our journey, the goals are virtually the same. We are all looking for our own kind of understanding, inner-peace, self-love, happiness and healing. I know how to get you there and would be honored to help. Finally, my shout out to you about considering and possibly embarking on this journey. Seeking mental health care makes you stronger. When you allow yourself to be open and share yourself with all your strengths and vulnerabilities you can find the part of you that you thought you lost or would never have. Anything is possible. Congratulations for getting this far! The decision about what path to take is yours but, always, remember to thine own self be true.

Everyone needs therapy. Some of us just choose to distract ourselves with the day-to-day madness. The problem with this is that life will eventually slow you down and you are unable to use those distractions. This is typically when you may feel hit hard by anxiety, panic, and depression. We will start with coping skills and mindfulness but I am here for the long haul. I am a damn good therapist, and I want to help you truly heal. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over nine years of professional experience. In 2015, I completed my master’s degree from West Texas A&M. I began my professional career with the Pavilion, an inpatient psychiatric hospital where I conducted individual, group, and family therapy. For the past seven years, I have worked with geriatric patients in an intensive outpatient program. I also do individual and couples counseling.
