I’m a licensed therapist who supports women who have spent most of their lives being the strong one, the responsible one, and the over-functioner for everyone else. Many of the women I work with grew up emotionally neglected or learned early on that their value came from how much they could carry. I help them reconnect with themselves, feel grounded again, and build a sense of identity and worthiness that isn’t tied to performance, achievement, or constantly being “the strong one.”

I received my Master of Social Work degree in 1999; and since the completion of my degree, I have worked in an array of settings such as child welfare, geriatric case management, end-of-life care, community mental health with adults, teens and children; and addiction recovery. While I have worked with people of all ages who have presented with a variety of physical and mental health problems, I have an extensive background in substance abuse treatment. I have a knack for translating 12-step terminology into more practical terms as it relates to psychotherapy. As a person in long-term recovery myself, I have learned (and wholeheartedly believe) that it takes all possible resources to stay clean and sober, and I can help you find the tools to accomplish long-term recovery. I have also worked in the hospice/palliative care field, and am sensitive to the psychological challenges that arise from addressing our mortality and the ripple effect of serious physical health problems. As a member of the queer community, I can help support and guide you in any issues you are having navigating any related issues you may have. Whatever you are struggling with right now, my promise to you is that I am here to help you identify the root of your problems; and more importantly to find ways to alleviate the distress you have been experiencing, and to establish both short and long-term solutions.

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS) in the state of North Carolina, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Provider (CCTP).I hold a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University (2013) and earned my Doctor of Education in Community Care and Counseling with a focus in Traumatology in 2022. With over 11 years of clinical experience, I have had the privilege of working across a broad spectrum of mental health settings. For the past eight years, I have supported active-duty service members and their families in an outpatient setting, providing trauma-informed care rooted in evidence-based practices. Prior to this, I worked in an inpatient facility with individuals experiencing persistent and severe mental illness. Currently, I also facilitate group therapy for adolescents in an acute inpatient setting, offering crisis stabilization and psychoeducation. I conceptualize treatment through the lens of Relational Frame Theory and approach therapy from a systemic perspective, always considering the broader relational and environmental factors impacting my clients. I strongly value mindfulness as both a personal and professional practice, integrating it regularly into treatment to support emotional regulation and present-moment awareness. Outside of my clinical work, I’ve been happily married for 19 years and am the proud parent of two teenage children. I share my home with three beloved dogs. In my free time, I enjoy baking, crocheting, reading, and spending time at the beach—places and activities that help me stay grounded and connected.

Hi, my name is Anna Lanier-Comar. I have been practicing in the mental health field for 17 years. I served in the Air Force Reserves for 8 years as a Mental Health Technician while earning my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I completed the requirements for Licensure while working at an inpatient Eating Disorder Facility in North Carolina. I have been practicing as a Licensed Therapist since 2017. Most of my professional experience is in treating Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar disorder, Borderline personality disorder and Eating disorders. I use a few different modalities in therapy. I work to help clients feel empowered over their human experience; good and bad. If you have not participated in therapy before it can seem a little daunting. During the first session, we will go over your relevant history and compile a list of goals you would like to accomplish while in therapy. In the following sessions, we will increase coping skills and strategies, along with awareness of your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Throughout therapy we will work to increase your resilience, confidence and adaptability to all life has to throw at you, as well as heal from the parts of your past that need your attention.

Hi, I’m Michelle. If you’re feeling stuck in anxiety, constantly worrying, or struggling with feeling “not good enough,” you’re not alone, and there’s nothing wrong with you. Many of the people I work with carry the weight of past experiences, family wounds, or trauma that still show up in their daily lives in ways they don’t always understand. In our work together, I offer a safe, compassionate space where you can slow down, feel supported, and begin to heal. I use approaches like EMDR and CBT to help you process painful experiences, calm anxious thoughts, and build a stronger sense of self-worth. For those who would like, I also integrate faith into counseling in a way that feels natural and supportive. I work mostly with adults who are ready for change but may not know where to start. My goal is to help you feel more at peace, more confident, and more connected, not just in sessions, but in everyday life too. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.

Hi, my name is Luz, my pronouns are she/her/hers, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I worked as a teacher for over 15 years before making the journey into a community mental health career. I have experience in mobile crisis response, trauma, forensic mental health concerns. To explain who I am as a therapist, I reflect back to my role as an educator. In the classroom, there was a movement for the teacher to be less of a “sage on the stage” (teacher-centered approach) and more of a “guide on the side” (student-centered). To me, therapy is a lesson plan for a learning experience. It's a guide to develop what the client needs to learn in order to cope with whatever barriers are showing up in the client's life, whether that barrier is an internal issue, such as self-image, or how to cope with work stress. My therapeutic perspective is to provide empathetic, non-judgmental, compassionate guidance and support in an atmosphere of respect and safety while allowing clients to be the experts of their lives, much like “a co-pilot, a sous chef, or an assistant manager” of a client-therapist relationship. I use solution-focused elements to help move toward desired goals, cognitive behavioral techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts, and motivational interviewing to help gain understanding and clarity. Outside of traditional therapy, I enjoy the practices of mindfulness, guided meditation, aromatherapy, and Reiki. Finding a therapist that's the right fit can be a challenging task, but taking that first step towards a healthier you is worth it. I look forward to working with you to help break down those barriers and make progress in areas that most matter to you.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving clients in North Carolina, Ohio, and Alabama. I earned my Master of Social Work degree through the Joint Program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University and have spent the past 15 years working in a variety of mental health settings. As a biracial and bicultural woman of White and Native American heritage and an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, I understand the importance of culture, identity, belonging, and lived experience in the healing process. I specialize in helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, family conflict, grief, loss, and caregiver burnout. I also have extensive experience working with trauma survivors, including individuals recovering from unhealthy relationships, emotional abuse, religious trauma and domestic violence. While I enjoy working with adults from all backgrounds, I am especially passionate about supporting women as they build confidence, strengthen boundaries, heal from past experiences, and reconnect with their sense of self. My approach is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up as your authentic self without fear of judgment. I strive to create an environment where clients feel safe, heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. Many clients tell me they appreciate my conversational, down-to-earth style. While therapy can involve discussing difficult topics, I also believe healing can include moments of humor, self-discovery, and recognizing your strengths along the way. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, processing trauma, navigating a major life transition, or working to create healthier relationships, you do not have to face it alone. I am committed to providing affirming care for individuals who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, bicultural/biracial, neurodivergent, ability-diverse, and those from underrepresented communities.
