LCSW, 25 years of experience
Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist. I earned my master's degree from East Carolina University and have spent the past 25 years walking alongside individuals and families through some of life's toughest challenges. My passion is helping adults who are struggling with substance use begin their recovery journey and uncover the deeper issues that my be fueling those behaviors. I also work closely with family members, offering support, coping tools, and guidance in setting healthy boundaries. Beyond addiction, I enjoy helping people who are dealing with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or navigating major life changes. No matter what brings someone to therapy, my goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where healing and growth feel possible.
In our first session together, we will have brief introductions, and then we will explore specific challenges you're facing. This will allow us to work together creating a tailored plan for future sessions.
My motivation to become a therapist comes from my own life experiences and my deep belief in the human capacity to overcome challenges. I've seen that what many people need most is a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where they feel truly accepted. Working from a strengths-based perspective, I see you as the expert on yourself, and my role is to help you gain clarity, tap into your inner resources, and continue your journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
I help individuals embrace change, build self-awareness, and take meaningful steps toward a brighter, more fulfilling life. Together, we turn challenges into opportunities for growth, healing, and hope.
CBT has been an effective method of treatment responding to a variety of stressors reported by clients. This therapy model will build skill sets enabling clients to identify thoughts and feelings that impact their behaviors. Clients will experience improved emotional states by changing unhealthy patterns in their thoughts and behaviors.
This is the foundation of an effective therapeutic relationship to create an environment for personal growth. This occurs when the client receives unconditional positive regard, genuineness and empathetic understanding from the therapist resulting in their ability to make healthy changes creating a more fulfilling life.
This form of therapy has been helpful working with clients struggling with addiction. It is used to increase the individual's motivation to move forward in their steps to recovery.
