Hello, my name is Steven Nelson, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over nine years of clinical experience. While my professional background includes family and relationship therapy, my current focus is working with individuals, helping each person navigate their unique journey toward healing, personal growth, and emotional well-being. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with people from diverse backgrounds and professions, including first responders, law enforcement personnel, active-duty military members and their families, nurses, attorneys, and many others facing a wide range of life challenges. Life's difficulties are a natural part of the human experience. At times, individuals may feel isolated in their struggles or believe that no one truly understands what they are going through. These thoughts can contribute to anxiety, depression, substance use, and other challenges that impact relationships, work, and overall quality of life. When left unaddressed, these difficulties can become overwhelming and interfere with one's ability to move forward. I believe that meaningful change is possible through a compassionate, collaborative, and evidence-based therapeutic approach. My goal is to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients can gain insight, build effective coping skills, strengthen resilience, and develop healthier ways of managing life's challenges. Together, we can work toward healing, personal wellness, and lasting positive change. In addition to my Psychological Therapy license, I hold specialties certifications in Drug and Alcohol addiction, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Sex Addiction, Trauma and Domestic Violence prevention.

If you are a client of Kaiser Permanente, it is necessary to obtain a referral from Kaiser before proceeding. Once you have received the referral, Kaiser will provide you with a link to schedule a session with me. I specialize in helping individuals as they navigate grief, anxiety, depression, anger, relationship challenges, and behavioral concerns. I understand that these struggles are not just diagnoses—they are lived experiences that can quietly shape how you see yourself, how you connect with others, and how you move through your day. Anxiety can feel like a constant hum in the background—keeping you on edge, overthinking, and emotionally worn down. Many people carry it for years without realizing how much it’s impacting their relationships and sense of peace. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to keep managing it by yourself. Depression is often misunderstood because it doesn’t always look like sadness. Sometimes it feels like exhaustion, numbness, irritability, or simply going through the motions without feeling connected to your life. It can make even the smallest tasks feel heavy. But depression is treatable, and with the right support, it is possible to feel like yourself again. In our work together, I offer a space where you can be seen, heard, and understood—without judgment. My goal is not only to help you cope, but to help you reconnect with yourself, find clarity in what you’re feeling, and build a life that feels more grounded, meaningful, and yours.

Love and work are essential to a meaningful life. Relationships with others define experience and work gives a sense of purpose. Disturbance in these affect well being and contribute to an overwhelmed response leading to collapse. As trauma is relational so is recovery and healing. Life is hard. Adulting is relentless. It’s so easy to lose focus on yourself when you are so busy with work, paying bills, and caring for others. You go from feeling that slight tinge of pride in being needed at first to stressed and anxious, then frustrated and overwhelmed, to finally depressed, resentful...and dare I say hopeless. Running in this rat race of life can feel lonely, but you are not alone, and you certainly do not have to go through this alone. Sometimes stigma and fear of not wanting to burden friends/family with your problems can discourage you from reaching out for help. Enter....me!.....Hello! My name is Christine. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has provided individual and group therapy to kids ages 6-18, college students, and adults. I've also treated patients in a psychiatric hospital experiencing homicidal/suicidal/psychotic crisis. I have experience with perinatal/postpartum depression and anxiety for both moms and dads. I like to use relatability and humor in keeping conversations real while developing an open and honest relationship with my clients. I specialize in work/life burnout, anxiety, stress, depression, recovering from divorce, crisis, grief, parenting struggles, and perinatal/postpartum depression (having gone through it twice myself). My approach is client-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused. It's scary sharing your innermost thoughts and allowing yourself to be vulnerable. I strive to create a warm, welcoming, safe space where you can unpack life’s stress with someone who is non-judgmental, accepting, honest, and empathetic, so you feel heard and seen. You matter. I would be honored to collaborate with you to listen with compassion, guide you in identifying and understanding your behavior and thought patterns, educate you on why/how that happens, teach coping skills, and help you prioritize yourself while creating meaningful and positive change. Because you deserve it.

A little about me: I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who, come to find out, originally got into this field largely to figure myself out. If you’ve never heard that from a therapist before, it’s actually a pretty common thread among us, we often subconsciously step into healing others as a way to find healing within ourselves. About 22 years ago, I was diagnosed with Complex PTSD, and roughly 15 years ago, I received an OCD diagnosis. Having these two conditions overlap made things incredibly challenging throughout much of my life and if I’m being completely honest, navigating that balance can still have its moments today. But there’s something powerful about a wounded healer: we tend to want more for ourselves and for the people we serve than just standard, status-quo talk therapy. We dig deeper because we need real answers on a personal level, and once we find what works, we want to share it with the world.

With over to 20 years of experience working alongside children, teens, adults, and families, I’ve learned the importance of meeting people exactly where they are, whether mentally, emotionally, or sometimes even physically. My “out-of-the-box” approach is flexible and adaptable to each individual's unique needs, offering creative, client-centered strategies where you can feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore at your own pace. My journey began in community-based settings, working with individuals and families often navigating complex systems. That foundation shaped my core belief: to show up to each session with curiosity and deep respect for each person’s unique story. My approach has always been to meet clients where they are, helping them discover healthier coping mechanisms and become more effective in their daily lives. Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all. I tailor each session to your unique needs, integrating different modalities to support your growth in ways that feel natural and accessible to you. As your therapist, I show up as my authentic self, with the intention of creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore at your own pace. I offer an environment where you can express yourself freely, gain deeper insight into your thoughts and emotions, and develop tools to navigate life’s challenges more effectively.

You’re an Asian-American professional who has achieved a great deal, yet you still feel unhappy. You may feel angry with the people you love most, anxious about what life may bring, disappointed when things don’t go your way, and frustrated with all of the above. You know there has to be more to life than simply getting through the day, but you haven’t been able to figure out what that is yet. As a second-generation Korean American therapist, I understand both personally and professionally how difficult it can be to grow up between cultures, navigate family expectations, and develop a stable sense of confidence and self-respect. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I draw from CBT, psychodynamic therapy, supportive therapy, and mindfulness to help clients better understand themselves and develop the skills needed to create lasting, meaningful change.

Hello! My name is Gloria Rojas and I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Outside of private practice, I work as a Director of Mental Health for a community-based mental health agency. I graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a Master’s in Social Work and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Social Work and Child Welfare and Attendance. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space to process, heal and rebuild. My services can be provided to clients with the following concerns: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, behavioral issues, ADHD, loss/grief, acute stress, adjustment to life transitions, women's issues, parenting, relationship difficulties, generational trauma, and cultural issues. All services can be provided in English and Spanish. I was inspired to become a therapist because I truly love helping others and feel a great privilege to be trusted with assisting someone on their journey to healing. I am driven to do this work every day because I have been blessed with experiencing the power of mental health services in my own family of origin. Additionally, as a professional and mother, I hope to serve as an example to others of overcoming obstacles, social pressures, and cultural dynamics to have a balance and thrive in all areas of life.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with extensive experience working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. I specialize in treating a range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, family conflict, self-esteem issues, and life transitions. My approach is integrative and client-centered. I draw on evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Positive Psychotherapy to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs. I use CBT to help clients identify and transform negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress. Through DBT, I support clients in developing emotion regulation skills and the capacity to balance acceptance with meaningful change. With Positive Psychotherapy and a strength-based lens, I empower individuals to recognize their inner resources, enhance coping skills, and explore new possibilities. I believe in creating a warm, safe, and collaborative therapeutic environment where you can explore new ways of thinking, overcome challenges, and move toward your goals—one step at a time. Let’s work together to create meaningful, lasting change for a better tomorrow.

Currently not accepting couples, fully accepting you, though! I work exclusively with adults in individual therapy. If you’ve been stuck in the endless therapist scroll, trying to figure out who actually feels safe, relatable, and honest enough to open up to....... welcome! I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Iowa with an emphasis in mental health. This background allows me to approach your concerns with a holistic and informed perspective. Many of the people I work with are carrying anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, relationship stress, identity exploration, burnout, anger, shame, grief, or the pressure of always having to “hold it together.” Some feel disconnected from themselves. Others are tired of surviving and want to start living more intentionally. My approach is warm, grounded, direct, and deeply human. Therapy with me is not about analyzing you from a distance or pretending to have all the answers. It is a collaborative space where you can slow down, speak honestly, make sense of your experiences, and begin responding to yourself and your life differently. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I balance compassion with honesty. I will support you, challenge you when needed, and help you notice patterns that may no longer serve you without judgment or shame. I work best with clients who are open to reflection, ready for meaningful change, and willing to engage in the process at their own pace. If you’re looking for a therapist who feels authentic, conversational, and intentional in the work, we may be a good fit.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Anger Management, is filtering therapists in California that work with patients with similar concerns.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
