I'm Esmeralda Lomeli and im here to listen to you and provide you with the space and tools to manage whatever life obstacles you are currently experiencing. I have over 16 years of clinical experience and have helped hundreds of clients throughout my practice. In my therapy practice, I have extensive experience working with forensic populations, which involves providing psychological services to individuals within the criminal justice system. This includes working with clients who have been incarcerated, on probation, or involved in legal proceedings. My approach is tailored to address the complex and multifaceted needs of this population, which often includes a range of psychological disorders. I utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help clients manage and overcome various psychological issues. This includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which are particularly effective for addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and personality disorders. I also have experience providing individual therapy to persons experiencing life stressors, anxiety, depression, PTSD and a myriad of other psychological and life issues through online therapy platforms.
The first therapy session is a crucial step in establishing a therapeutic relationship and setting the foundation for future sessions. During this initial meeting, I focus on gathering information, discussing consent forms, and introducing different treatment modalities and what to expect in the coming sessions. We will also go over safety protocols, exploring current support systems and any relevant historical information. I will also answer any questions you may be thinking of.
As a therapist, I bring several key strengths to my practice that contribute to the success of my clients. These strengths include active listening, compassion, and support. I prioritize active listening in my sessions, ensuring that clients feel heard and understood. This involves paying close attention to their words, emotions, and non-verbal cues. By actively listening, I can better understand their experiences and perspectives, which helps in developing a tailored treatment plan that addresses their specific needs. Compassion is at the heart of my therapeutic approach. I create a safe and non-judgmental environment where clients can express themselves freely. My compassionate nature allows me to empathize with their struggles and provide the emotional support they need to navigate their challenges. This fosters a strong therapeutic alliance and encourages clients to engage fully in the therapy process. I offer unwavering support to my clients throughout their therapeutic journey. This includes providing guidance, encouragement, and practical strategies to help them achieve their goals. I am committed to being a reliable source of support, helping clients build resilience and develop the skills needed to manage their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors effectively. By integrating these strengths into my practice, I aim to help clients feel valued, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.
My ideal client is someone who is ready to feel better and open to helping themselves. They are motivated to make positive changes in their life and willing to engage actively in the therapeutic process. This client is open-minded and receptive to learning new skills and strategies to manage their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. They understand that therapy is a collaborative effort and are committed to working together to achieve their goals.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a highly effective approach that I utilize in my therapy practice to help clients manage and overcome various psychological issues. Here's how I describe my use of CBT: CBT is a structured, goal-oriented form of therapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. In my practice, I work collaboratively with clients to understand their specific challenges and develop personalized strategies to address them.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is another effective approach that I utilize in my therapy practice to help clients manage and overcome various psychological issues. Here's how I describe my use of DBT: DBT is a comprehensive, evidence-based treatment that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. It is particularly effective for individuals with emotional dysregulation, borderline personality disorder, and other complex mental health conditions.
Mindfulness therapy is a great way to ground yourself and really submerge yourself to living in the present.
