My goal as a therapist is to help clients face both the real and perceived challenges in their lives with clarity, support, and renewed strength. I approach each person as a unique human being with their own story, strengths, and struggles, and I see therapy as a collaborative process of moving forward together. I work in a way that is direct and pragmatic, drawing on psychoeducation and clinical experience to give clients new ways of seeing, understanding, and coping with life’s difficulties. At the same time, my style is deeply connection-based, rooted in empathy and authenticity, with room for levity when appropriate. I am a hopeful therapist who believes in the process of growth and in our ability as human beings to continually renew ourselves. I find it a genuine honor to share in a client’s journey, and I approach the work with respect, presence, and care. Hi there, I’m Douglas. When anxiety, uncertainty, or burnout take over, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and unsure of your next step. It doesn’t have to stay that way. I work primarily with gay men and LGBTQ+ adults who appear confident on the outside but feel anxious, scattered, or self-critical underneath. Many are high-achieving professionals navigating ADHD, rumination, identity stress, or relationship challenges while trying to meet strong internal and external expectations. As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, and ADHD Clinical Services Provider, I bring both structure and depth to our work. Together, we’ll identify patterns that keep you stuck, regulate emotional reactivity, and build practical systems that support clarity and follow-through. Therapy with me blends insight with action—so change feels steady, grounded, and sustainable. If you’re ready to feel more centered, confident, and aligned in your life and relationships, I’d be honored to support you.

I’m a licensed clinical social worker and therapist based in San Francisco, partnering with adults who are ready to move through anxiety, grief, depression, trauma, and relationship stress toward a more grounded and meaningful life. For over eight years, I’ve provided compassionate, evidence-based care in hospitals, human-service agencies, schools, and community health settings. My clients often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by emotions, uncertain about their direction, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. In our work together, I create a space where insight and action meet. Drawing from Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and attachment-informed exploration, I help clients connect with their values, strengthen emotional regulation, and cultivate a more flexible, balanced mindset. Our sessions are collaborative and practical—we explore what’s happening beneath the surface, and then translate those insights into daily habits and relational shifts that support growth and resilience. My approach is warm, intuitive, and grounded in authenticity. I believe healing unfolds when we learn to honor our emotions, practice self-compassion, and realign with what truly matters. Whether you’re processing loss, navigating a life transition, or seeking deeper connection with yourself and others, my goal is to help you feel more clear, capable, and at peace in your own life. Please note that couples therapy is offered on a private-pay basis only, at a rate pf $250 per session per couple, and I do not accept insurance for couples or family sessions. I am happy to provide a superbill upon request for clients who wish to submit it to their insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to see if they reimburse for OON therapy services. For any questions regarding fees, payment plans, or the superbill process, feel free to reach out.

For more than twenty‐five years, I’ve helped adults navigate mid‐life challenges—whether related to depression, anxiety, relationship stress and breakups, or the natural shifts that come with aging. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward, I will help you create meaningful, lasting change. In our work, we may focus on strengthening distress tolerance, improving emotional regulation, enhancing interpersonal effectiveness, and reconnecting with what matters most to you. You’ll leave sessions with insight, direction, and strategies you can use right away—not just talk. I'm solution‑focused, goal‑oriented, compassionate, and client‑centered. I work collaboratively to identify practical steps forward so we don’t stay stuck in the problem itself. Together, we’ll clarify what’s getting in the way and build tools that help you feel more grounded, capable and aligned with your values. By focusing on the skills of distress tolerance, emotional regulation, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness, we can begin to feel more in control of our day to day responses to stressors. I provide sessions geared towards formulating, motivating, achieving, and sustaining desired behavioral change. It helps you get "unstuck" and back in control! One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is seeing clients set meaningful, value-driven goals and achieving them. That's why I partner with you to ensure you are empowered to reach your full potential. As you work through life's transitions, I will be there to guide, encourage, and challenge you to push past obstacles and create the life you want. Hello! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) currently based and practicing in Oregon, though with an active license in California as well. I attended California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) for graduate school and lived in the Bay Area for a decade before moving to Portland, OR shortly before the pandemic. I have over thirteen years of experience as a "generalist" therapist, though I specialize in supporting individuals in the midst of life transitions, including but not limited to: relationship challenges, moves to a new city or state, new or chronic medical diagnoses, career and work problems, spiritual questioning, transitions into the workforce or retirement. I do NOT work with couples at this time. While I consider the psychological theories behind my work, I hold them lightly in the room, believing most fundamentally in the importance of an adaptive, culturally-sensitive, non-judgmental stance with my clients. PLEASE NOTE: your chosen intake appointment time is subject to my final approval based on my shifting availability. I see clients on multiple platforms and am unable to sync all of my calendars in real time. I have been a practicing therapist for over 5 years now. I have worked with a diverse group of populations dealing with depression/anxiety all the way to psychosis diagnoses. I implement a lot of Trauma Focused CBT and Motivational Interviewing into my practice. My clients have often told me that I bring a genuine and compassionate atmosphere to sessions which helps them feel more at ease. I take a very nonjudgmental "at your own pace" type of approach. I want to ensure you feel comfortable every step of the way through your journey with mental health.

Hello, My name is Elizabeth, and my pronouns are they/them/elle. I am a bicultural nonbinary therapist. I have the most experience working with anxiety disorders, self-confidence issues, and challenges around gender and sexuality. I use a very humanistic approach in my practice, and I am human with you in the room. You do not need to feel talked down to or be told what to do in therapy. You and I can work together instead, as I may be the expert in psychology, but you are the expert of your own life. You will be encouraged to use your own strengths to push through the hurdles and you can expect warmth from me throughout this process.

I support individuals navigating life transitions, aid in deepening self-awareness, develop healthier patterns, and move forward with improved clarity and confidence. Collaboratively we will explore how past experiences, particularly from childhood, continue to shape thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and impact relationships. Together, we gently uncover and make sense of suppressed or unprocessed experiences, gaining insight into how early experiences continue to influence your present-day circumstances. I support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, and patterns of avoidance or coping that no longer serve them. I also work with clients seeking to reduce or change substance use when it has become a way of managing unresolved experiences. I have extensive experience supporting individuals with complex trauma, including childhood neglect, attachment wounds, and foster care experiences. My trauma-informed, psychodynamic approach integrates insight-oriented exploration with CBT to enhance self-understanding, emotional regulation, and lasting, meaningful change. I am currently accepting private-pay clients at $200 per session. My practice is full at the moment, but I am happy to add you to my waiting list. Please feel free to reach out, and I will contact you as soon as an opening becomes available. 6 1 9 8 0 0 8 6 3 1

Synchronize your heart and mind; so you can harmonize your life. When we are being pulled in thousands of different directions by our minds, it's important for us to ground in ourselves. It's important for you to connect to your heart and see what it needs. That's when you can find the bliss and harmony that you've longed for in life. Your life is a story to be told, and I am excited to hear it. In the course of my career, my heart has been touched by at least three thousand individuals who honored me with their stories of love, loss, trauma, and a deeper a need for understanding who he/she is. I love working with clients who are ready to be challenged and identify blind spots in their lives. Many of my clients are therapists themselves or work in the field of healing. We create an individualized therapeutic plan and strategy based on your comfort and pace. We move gradually but quickly to address what changes you want to implement in your life. Most sessions are active, rather than passive. Yet, the therapeutic space belongs to the client. You get to dictate and tell your story at your pace.

Are you struggling with the ability to practice self-love? Or maybe you are not entirely sure exactly what that is. Perhaps you are tired of feeling bad about yourself, your appearance, guilty for not being "enough" to others, and lacking energy. For some people, feeling like this leads them to try and feel better by eating, overspending money, overexercising, or investing in bad relationships. Often enough, time spent in these ways (and more) can leave someone feeling even more depleted. If you can relate to any of this, you are certainly not alone. Together we will tackle your discontent stemming from your challenges to understand and practice self-love. You will learn what self-love consists of, understand how to shift any unhelpful thought patterns, build better boundaries, and put into practice what you have learned during weekly sessions and through homework assignments in between sessions to improve your ability to demonstrate that you love being YOU! I have over 7 years of experience as a licensed therapist working with individuals and couples. I am also a licensed CPA so I integrate a practical and structured approach to therapy where I will validate your concerns while supporting your movement towards solutions.

Hello. I am a licensed social worker in California. I began practicing in the mental health/behavioral health field in 2011. I originally was licensed in Maryland in 2015 but then returned to California in 2016. Since starting in the field, I have worked with individuals ranging in age from 4 years old to 75 years old; most experience working with individuals between the ages of 10 and 35. I have experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, depression, anxiety, parenting problems, and relationship issues. I am an ally of the LGBTQI community and can provide a safe, telehealth space for them. Unfortunately, at this time, I cannot accommodate individuals seeking letters for emotional support animals or those mandated by the court or legal system for therapy. With that said, my goal in being a counselor, is to assist my clients in meeting their identified treatment needs. I am flexible and willing to do whatever I need to do to assist you and help you in any way that I can. If when viewing my profile, you feel as though I am a good fit, but my schedule does not meet your scheduling needs, please feel free to send me a message as I may be able to fit you in at a different time. I work evenings and weekends.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take Aetna - Moda?

Yes! If you use Aetna - Moda you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Aetna - Moda you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
