Licensed to practice in California and accepts 38 insurances. Specializes in Anxiety, Depression
(she/her)
Hello, and thank you for visiting my profile. I am a licensed clinical social worker with 25 years of experience in the mental health field. My goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental space to process, learn to unlearn that which is no longer helpful to you, and rebuild. My services can be provided in English, Portuguese, or Spanish and include stress management, coping with depression and/or anxiety, and learn to live with what cannot be changed. A meaningful life must be constructed, with care and diligence, kindness and courage.
I like to meet the client where they are and talk about what they would like to accomplish in psychotherapy.
Having worked with various age groups from the US and other cultures for the last 35 years, I bring to my practice the empathy for all humans.
I love to work in the helping profession. I was an LVN and a teacher prior to immigrating to the US, in 1986. I would like to be of assistance to women and men who experienced trauma during childhood and/or adolescence, the active duty military and their families, and the older population.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I have been utilizing DBT interventions for the past 10 years. DBT is a form of therapeutic intervention that combines the cognitive behavioral method with mindfulness skills, and works well for individuals who have trauma and/or who have anxiety and/or depression
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
If you are reading this, you probably aren’t feeling awesome. I get it. I’ve been there. Feeling lost, alone, or just stuck, and trying to find a therapist that will understand where you are and how you got there. The therapeutic process involves learning to unlearn that which is no longer helpful to you. My zoom room is a confidential and non-judgmental space in which reflective discussions about your "why" in life will be encouraged. Therapy, to me, is a place where you and I connect, human to human. We will merge mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy to decrease or eliminate what is not working for you anymore.

I was looking for a female therapist that was experienced in therapy but also in life. I enjoy that we have the same culture so that there could be an understanding of interpersonal relationships with parents and family. Her biography stood out to me by targeting all the areas of therapy that I was looking for.

I brought a full plate to Marcia, and she was nothing but warm and direct with wanting to start finding solutions. I felt like she was adapting well to my personality and she genuinely wanted to hear me. I felt very comfortable with her.

I feel like there is a good balance of emotional wellbeing and physical wellbeing that gets involved in our appointments, and it's starting to help connect the dots of how they are all interlinked as I make changes or struggle otherwise to make changes and then get to explore the what and the why. Marcia is so warm and caring, quite thoughtful in her approach while still practical. It pushes me to be more intentional and to think further about the why of my actions.
