Hi there! I’m a therapist originally from Virginia, with deep passion for the LGBTQ+ and African American communities. My heart and practice has also been shaped by seven vibrant years in San Francisco. My approach is creative, compassionate, and affirming. I believe healing happens when we feel truly seen, and I strive to create a space where you can show up as your full self. Outside of therapy, I’m deeply inspired by music (of all genres), art, and all things creative. I bring that same spirit into my work, helping clients tap into their own resilience, insight, and expression.

I know what it’s like to face adversity, and I understand how overwhelming grief and loss can feel. Whether you're coping with the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or another significant life change, you're not meant to go through it alone. Grief can make it hard to see a way forward, but healing is possible. With support and guidance, you can begin to process your pain, reconnect with yourself, and rediscover joy and meaning in your life. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping many individuals navigate the complex emotions of grief. And I truly believe that no matter where you are right now, there is hope for a brighter future.

Hi, I'm Lane. I know that looking for a therapist-- finding the right "fit" and someone you can trust--can be a daunting process. Let me tell you a little about my practice, and if you have any questions, I welcome them. Over 16 years of clinical practice, I have accumulated a number of techniques for helping folks feel more whole in their daily experience. I believe that it's my job to get to know and to honor your truth and endemic wisdom. I'm here to be a compassionate partner in your self-exploration. Honesty, transparency, and trust in our relationship is paramount. I am always interested in hearing your thoughts and feelings about our working relationship. Most times, talking about what's happening in the moment, in our interactions, is therapeutic, and leads to new skills that can be deployed in everyday life. Therapy is a place to learn about and practice being authentic, noticing along the way the places you might have had to curtail your truths to cope in previous situations.

In my 12 years of practice, my heart has been touched by at least three thousand individuals who honored me with their stories of love, loss, trauma, and a deeper a need for understanding who he/she is. I love working with clients who are ready to be challenged and identify blind spots in their lives. Many of my clients are therapists themselves or work in the field of healing. We create an individualized therapeutic plan and strategy based on your comfort and pace. We move gradually but quickly to address what changes you want to implement in your life. Most sessions are active, rather than passive. Yet, the therapeutic space belongs to the client. You get to dictate and tell your story at your pace.

Hi, whether you are considering therapy for the first time or returning after a break, effective therapy begins with a good "fit." I have lived experience as a consumer of mental health services which inspired me to become a licensed therapist to address the gaps I experienced when receiving help. I have worked with, over the past 35 years, as a substance abuse counselor (most recent 5 years as Marriage and Family Therapist) in outpatient, inpatient, child welfare, children's system of care, probation, mediation, in-custody, crisis intervention, hospitalization, opiate addiction treatment, severely mentally ill, unhoused and dual diagnosis treatment, as well as, private practice. I feel that listening, compassion and understanding are very important in a dismissive world. I enjoy lifting others up to help them reach their full potential, however, I will address times when your growth hits a "stuck point" or a setback. These can happen. I enjoy working together with others in a spirit of humility, curiosity, and authenticity.

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who works with adult individuals with attachment and developmental trauma, PTSD recent traumatic events, and anxiety using mind-body approaches and attachment informed EMDR via telehealth. I've noticed that a lot of people with trauma and anxiety seem to benefit from using attachment-informed EMDR and parts work approaches that help you get to know the inner parts of yourself. Using a combination of these approaches can help with resolving inner conflict, connecting that sense of the "inner child" to healing and resources, and increasing inner strength and a sense of agency in your life decisions. I will use guided imagery in therapy and like to focus on the mind and body connection. In my practice, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) within a trauma-informed care framework to support clients struggling with depression and anxiety, self-esteem and body image, as well as relationship issues across all areas of their lives including family, friendships, work dynamics, and romantic partnerships. Recognizing the impact of trauma on these patterns, I create a safe and empathetic environment where clients feel validated and understood. My structured approach helps clients develop practical skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. For self-esteem and body image concerns, I focus on helping clients cultivate self-compassion and challenge negative self-talk through mindfulness and acceptance strategies, while remaining mindful of their trauma history. In addressing relationship issues, I guide clients in developing healthier communication styles, strengthening boundaries, and improving their ability to connect with others in a way that feels safe and sustainable. By integrating these techniques, I empower clients to navigate their emotions more effectively, improve their self-perception, and foster more fulfilling and supportive relationships of all kinds.

Our priorities often revolve around work and our family's well-being, leaving us at the bottom of our list. My aim is to encourage self-determination through therapy. During our therapeutic relationship, we will work together to achieve your goals and find new ways to overcome obstacles and crises. We'll collaborate on identifying your strengths, as it's important to recognize how your current mindset and decisions are impacting the challenges you face in life.

Hello, my name is Bryan Llorente, I am a licensed clinical social worker and have experience working in several clinical and therapeutic settings. I started my career at Advent Health Hospice Care, one of the largest non-profit hospital systems in the country. Through this position I gained experience in providing therapeutic counseling services to individuals and families who are going through major transitional period in their lives (receiving a terminal illness, death of loved one, living adjustments etc.) As a result I am well experienced in dealing with depression, anxiety, situational stress, loss of a loved one, grief, and am understanding of how medical issues can affect a person’s mental health. I have also worked for Orlando Health at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies covering the ED/Triage, antepartum and postpartum units of the hospital. This position gave me experience with providing crisis interventions and psychotherapeutic counseling to patient's who have a history of severe mental health issues, or who are actively experiencing medical emergencies, traumatic events, domestic violence, manic/depressive episodes, psychotic episodes, and suicidal ideations. In addition, I provided education on post partum depression and child care. In 2021 I began teaching classes as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Central Florida's College of Health Professions and Sciences. I have also worked for the National Suicide Prevention Line where I learned how to deal with a variety of mental health and emotional crisis situations over the phone. I feel well equipped to help my clients deal with a variety of issues, whether in person, or online. I take an objective and collaborative approach to understanding problems, and work with clients to create strategies to address problems head on so that clients learn the skills necessary to achieve their goals.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take Harvard Pilgrim/UnitedHealthcare?

Yes! If you use Harvard Pilgrim/UnitedHealthcare you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Harvard Pilgrim/UnitedHealthcare you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
