Hi, I’m Robyn Slayton-Lopez, a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes therapy should feel supportive, genuine, and, even when we’re doing hard work, sometimes a little bit human and real. I work with adults navigating depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, substance use, and dual diagnoses. I also specialize in working with neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and autism, through an affirming and strengths-based lens. My approach is compassionate, practical, and tailored to each person I work with. I draw from evidence-based models such as CBT, DBT, Inference-based CBT, and ERP, blending them with creative, collaborative strategies that make therapy meaningful and engaging. I want clients to feel seen, supported, and equipped with tools that actually work in their day-to-day lives. I don’t believe therapy has to feel clinical or stuffy. You can expect a mix of warmth, humor, and honesty in our sessions, because real healing happens when you can show up as your full self, without judgment. If you’re ready to work with someone who understands both the science of mental health and the uniqueness of being human, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
In our first session, we’ll take some time to get to know each other and talk about what brings you to therapy. We’ll review your intake paperwork, discuss your goals, and collaborate on a treatment plan that fits your needs and priorities. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions about the therapy process and get a sense of what working together will feel like.
Many of my clients appreciate my ability to be direct while remaining kind and supportive. I believe in offering honest feedback with compassion, because real growth often comes from a mix of empathy and gentle challenge.
I work with adults who are ready to invest in themselves and create meaningful change. If you’re motivated to grow, heal, and better understand yourself, we’ll likely be a great fit.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because it's a highly effective, evidence-based approach that helps clients develop practical skills to manage their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT empowers individuals to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, leading to real, lasting changes in how they feel and act. I find it to be especially powerful in addressing issues like anxiety, depression, and stress, as it provides clients with tools they can use both in therapy and in everyday life
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) because it is an evidence-based approach that effectively helps clients manage intense emotions and improve interpersonal relationships. DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices, which empower individuals to build emotional resilience, reduce harmful behaviors, and enhance their coping skills. It's particularly useful for those struggling with borderline personality disorder, emotion dysregulation, and self-harm, offering practical tools for long-term change and stability
I take a person-centered approach because I believe that each client holds the key to their own growth and healing. This approach allows me to create a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel heard and respected. By focusing on the individual’s strengths and unique experiences, I empower them to find their own solutions and develop a greater sense of self-awareness and confidence. This approach fosters trust, collaboration, and genuine personal growth
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy is a proven, effective treatment designed to help you take control of your symptoms. You'll learn to face your fears and reduce compulsive behaviors through guided exposure exercises in a safe and supportive environment. Our personalized approach empowers you to escape OCD’s grip and reclaim your life. Start your journey to lasting relief today.

Robyn is great. She makes me think clearly, and logical but also allows me to embrace what I feel. She is one who always reminds me about how life should serve me in a positive way. I am grateful to have her at my therapist!
