New to Grow
My name is Geno Creese, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Drama Therapist (#942) accepting virtual clients in California. Regardless of presenting issues, I like to meet my clients where they are at; whether you are new to mental health support or are a seasoned veteran there is space for you here. Together, we will work together to identify the mental health challenges getting between you and your goals and co-create a treatment plan to work on these goals. That said, regardless of the "plan," we will work together each session with whatever you bring to the room. As a therapist I work from an attachment based lens and use elements of psychodynamic theory, solution focused therapy, CBT, Narrative Style Interventions, and a host of Drama Therapy Interventions to support my clients.
During our first session we will review informed consent, answer any questions, then we will take a little time talking about what you are hoping to work on in therapy. The main goal of this first session is to get to know eachother and start building trust between therapist and client
I believe one of my strengths as a therapist is being able to listen with compassion, non-judgement, and even humor when appropriate. We are all doing our best and that is a great place to start. I also believe my use of drama therapy interventions to "get on our feet," even during virtual sessions, gives my clients access to less verbal pathways for healingh.
I have significant experience working with trauma, and mood disorders. I also have significant experience working with neruodivergent communities. My ideal client is anyone who is ready to work on themselves.
When working from an attachment based lens I will be supporting you in strengthening your sense of self and confidence in your choices by helping you develop your own positive internalized parent.
When working in a CBT frame we will discover the distorted thoughts and beliefs that are getting between you and happiness and work to reduce the pain of these thoughts and replace them with more accurate, self affirming beliefs which will lead you to making healthier choices when issues arise.
We all contain multitudes. Each one of us has strengths that we draw on every day to survive, sometimes client's need some support identifying these parts of themselves and utilizing these strengths as part of a coping strategy to get the client through challenging moments day to day.
