LCSW, 10 years of experience
Hello and Welcome! Are there moments in your life where you wished things could go better? Have you noticed changes in being able to connect with yourself (mind/body) or being able to connect with others (friends, family, new acquaintances)? Have you wondered what's wrong with your self-care? What habits are interfering with leveling up? I want to start by recognizing the tremendous courage and step forward in seeking therapy. I utilize a whole person, strength based, and compassionate approach to understanding your problems. My goal is to support you by listening and helping you find solutions that will work for you. I utilize a cultural humility and solutions focused approach to ensure that you are in the driver seat and I can be your headlights in reaching that destination. I pull from a variety of evidence-based practices and consider myself eclectic in style. In our sessions, therapy should feel natural, conversational, safe and overall be a space to promote healing. We all need someone to talk to, so let's work together. Tambien hablo Espanol.
In the first session, you will get to know me and my clinical approach to treatment, we will collaborate on developing a treatment plan, and work together to address your ideal goals.
I pull from a variety of evidence based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Behavioral Therapy (SFBT), Trauma Focused and Trauma Informed Care.
My areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, stress, self esteem, coaching and goal setting, career/workplace challenges, coping with life changes, family issues, caregiver issues and stress, first generation/acculturation issues, first responder issues, young adult issues, neurodiversity (Autism and ADHD), Men’s Issues, LGBTQ+ Issues, and trauma. I have 8+ years doing mental health work in the Bay Area in a variety of settings and populations (children, teens, transitional age youth, adults, and geriatrics). I have experience working in wraparound multidisciplinary teams, foster care treatment (Katie A. Services), residential group home, inpatient psychiatric hospital treatment, outpatient mental health clinics, corrections (jail), and now private practice.
I am interested in working with Transitional Aged Youth (17-26), Older Teens (15-18), and adults with mild/moderate mood disorders who are looking for a space to improve their self care, self esteem, work stress, and quality of life. The majority of my experience is in crisis settings and therefore more behavioral and psycho analytic in my style.

I love the fact that Luis tells me how it is with no bullshit. He is willing to tell me the tough things that I need to hear in order to grow as a person. He holds me accountable for things that I do not do, and he even tells me to hold myself accountable. He is very down to earth and very kind and warm. I feel comfortable coming to Luis with my problems.
