Hello my name is Marieva Lopez, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist based in Southern California, with 8+ years of experience. I am passionate about supporting clients with their daily lives and any presented issues, by providing an empathetic and safe environment. I work with both adults and adolescents specializing in depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, behavioral issues, life transitions, and communication/relational issues. With an integrative approach primarily utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and a holistic therapy I will create a safe and non-judgmental environment to support your therapeutic journey. I approach sessions with empathic and compassionate understanding, along with a direct-gentle approach. I create a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients to feel more natural and express themselves freely in session without feeling the need to be professional.
During our first session I take the time to get to know who you are by building trust and rapport. My main focus is to create a warm and welcoming environment where you feel safe, heard, and comfortable with sharing what brings you to therapy. From there I like to explore current life stressors, symptoms/feelings you are experiencing, along with potential history of symptoms/feelings, what your views of therapy are and what you expect out of our sessions. I like to get a better understanding of where you feel you’re currently at in life so I can meet you there and we can work together in moving forward.
In my time working with in this field I’ve learned how to support those who experience depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, behavioral issues, life transitions, and communication/relational issues. During said time, I have educated clients on how to build insight and awareness in their thoughts/behaviors and taught how to incorporate positive coping techniques to manage difficult situations.
I have primarily worked with adults (18 years old +), however I also have experience working with youth/adolescents (10 years old +). In my time working with both populations, I’ve learned how to support those who experience depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, behavioral issues, life transitions, and communication/relational issues. During said time, I have educated clients on how to build insight and awareness in their thoughts/behaviors and taught how to incorporate positive coping techniques to manage difficult situations.
My most frequently utilized approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness. These approaches help support clients reflect thinking and behavioral patterns that can be reframed into a positive light.
