Hello my name is Marieva Lopez, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist based in Southern California, with 8+ years of experience. I am passionate about supporting clients with their daily lives and any presented issues, by providing an empathetic and safe environment. I work with both adults and adolescents specializing in depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, behavioral issues, life transitions, and communication/relational issues. With an integrative approach primarily utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and a holistic therapy I will create a safe and non-judgmental environment to support your therapeutic journey. I approach sessions with empathic and compassionate understanding, along with a direct-gentle approach. I create a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients to feel more natural and express themselves freely in session without feeling the need to be professional.
During our first session I take the time to get to know who you are by building trust and rapport. My main focus is to create a warm and welcoming environment where you feel safe, heard, and comfortable with sharing what brings you to therapy. From there I like to explore current life stressors, symptoms/feelings you are experiencing, along with potential history of symptoms/feelings, what your views of therapy are and what you expect out of our sessions. I like to get a better understanding of where you feel you’re currently at in life so I can meet you there and we can work together in moving forward.
In my time working with in this field I’ve learned how to support those who experience depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, behavioral issues, life transitions, and communication/relational issues. During said time, I have educated clients on how to build insight and awareness in their thoughts/behaviors and taught how to incorporate positive coping techniques to manage difficult situations.
I have primarily worked with adults (18 years old +), however I also have experience working with youth/adolescents (10 years old +). In my time working with both populations, I’ve learned how to support those who experience depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, behavioral issues, life transitions, and communication/relational issues. During said time, I have educated clients on how to build insight and awareness in their thoughts/behaviors and taught how to incorporate positive coping techniques to manage difficult situations.

From the moment I logged in for my first session, Marieva was very warm and inviting and gave me a very safe space to unwind. I'm happy for a positive start because I didn't think I could ever look forward to taking the next steps for my well-being. Thank you!

Honestly, I see myself in her she’s very sweet, very kind. Marieva seems like a sister to me while still being professional. It’s nice to relate to somebody! It also is very lovely to have somebody not judge you for who you are. Marieva has been a pleasure working with. Whether it be talking about something difficult or having a laugh about something random. She’s very optimistic and enthusiastic and caring towards my feelings. She also offers a lot of good advice. I appreciate you, Thank you!
