Over the years, I have worked with a wide variety of clients with a wide variety of issues and circumstances. The bulk of my previous experience in the nonprofit world was in substance use disorder treatment programs. My training as a therapist includes specialized training for a wide variety of disorders. I am known for being empathic, honest and insightful and a relentless cheerleader for my clients. I am very interactive and I will offer liberal doses of feedback and suggestions. I will provide psycho-education and will look to you for feedback about how you are feeling about the therapy. We will address the therapy as a team.
Balancing work, personal responsibilities, relationships, and health can feel like an uphill battle! Don't even get me started on the never ending laundry basket, the appointments you haven't made yet, and the to-do list that is lost somewhere in the notebook you can't find. You might feel isolated and like no one else seems to be struggling the way you are. You might doubt that your experience is even real and have thoughts like, "maybe I am just lazy!" Maybe your relationships are suffering because your loved ones don't understand why you show up inconsistently. Maybe your self-esteem is low because you can't understand why you have been able to function really well in some areas or in some stages of life, but right now you are really struggling. Maybe you are really afraid to open up to a therapist because you have had a string of very invalidating experiences with doctors, therapists, and others you were hoping would help you.
I'm Kim. I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker, trauma therapist, ADHDer, mom, serial hobbiest, and corgi lover. I am neurodiversity affirming and a safe therapist for gender and sexuality diverse folks. I have lots of experience working with people who are struggling with PTSD/C-PTSD, ADHD, parenting issues, chronic pain, and life transitions. From a somatic, psychodynamic approach we will focus on the connection between the body and the mind, and how emotions and past experiences can be stored in the body and affect an your mental and physical well-being. Through the use of techniques such as mindfulness, breathwork, and body-based exercises, you will become more aware of your physical sensations and how they are connected to your thoughts and emotions. This may also include exploring early childhood experiences, family dynamics, and past traumas, as well as working through issues related to relationships, self-esteem, and personal growth.
I value a relational approach to therapy. Hence, I aim to bring my full self to each session with authenticity and appropriate openness. I hope that my authenticity creates a brave space for others to bring their full selves to the session as well. I pull from numerous therapeutic modalities and tailor treatment to the client, however I tend to focus most treatment on mind body connection. I look forward to meeting you and walking alongside you as you navigate whatever treatment goals you bring to therapy.

I help people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other mental disorders. I help them further develop their mindfulness, assertive communication skills, and capacity for love & respect for themselves, and, consequently, the rest of the world. I don't merely believe in therapy, I know first-hand the beneficial power it can provide. Before seeking mental health services for myself, I not only suffered from low self-esteem, I also experienced severe panic attacks. I am, and forever will be, grateful each and every day that those symptoms now only exist in my past. These are just a few of the reasons why mental health is by far my greatest passion in life.
