(he/him)
My name is Jason Newman and I am a therapist that loves DBT skills. In my therapy practice I use a lot of these skills along solid’s narrative techniques to help clients find new ways of being in the world. I enjoy being able to help my clients grow and figure out what they need to do to feel more successful. I always believe everyone is doing the best they can with the skills they have, and we will learn new ones!
I will be asking assessment questions and trying to see what has worked and what has not worked in the past. I am trying to make sure you feel just as comfortable with me so that this can be the best matching possible.
I am very personable. My clients tend to really like me and find me to be someone they can feel comfortable with rather quickly. I have a ways of relating to people where it is very rare that I cannot build a strong rapport with someone. I am also lighthearted, friendly, and yet also challenging at times when we need to go there.
I enjoy working with queer clients the most. I work with teens to adults with depression, anxiety, adhd and trauma. Clients questioning their identity and life transitions are always great. I enjoy working with people going into second careers or wanting to figure out who they are with their values. Those looking to expand their current set of skills and are open to finding new ways to view their situation.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I was trained by the Linehan Institute. DBT was created by Marsha Likehan and offers extensive trainings to people from her via video. I was in an extensive training program. I talk about using DBT skills in session all the time. There is so much that you can do from the main component: mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. These can be used to help anyone.
Gender-affirming therapy
I have been trained in gender affirming and am able to write letters of support for those looking to transition. Very respectful of all queer individuals.
Narrative
Big proponent of narrative therapy because it helps those who have felt ostracized by society into externalizing issues and not blaming themselves for society issues.

Jason is humorous but also authentic! He asks important questions and listens thoroughly to the responses. We've only had one session together but I'm looking forward to more!
