Noemi (Medina) Flores
Hi, I'm Ms. Noemi, a bilingual (English & Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Southern California. I have been practicing since 2003 and currently run a part-time private practice where I serve children, teens, and adults. I specialize in early intervention, child, and family therapy. Additionally, I provide solution-focused individual counseling to adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, and boundary challenges. My extensive clinical background includes serving high-risk communities within county mental health, where I provided individual, group, and parenting services. In this role, I paired traditional talk therapy with evidence-based treatment models and collaborated closely with adjunct programs. I also have deep experience in school-based settings, providing Mental Health Related Services (MHRS) to students with counseling built into their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Furthermore, I spent 10 years working with a foster-adoption agency, dedicated to promoting safety, family reunification, and supportive parenting.
I provide solution-focused individual counseling to adults dealing with life changes, transitions, anxiety, and boundary challenges.
My educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Cal State University, Fullerton (2003), a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Southern California (2005), and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) with an emphasis on Child Welfare and Attendance from Cal State University, Long Beach (2017). Life can be deeply challenging and overwhelming at times, and my true passion is helping individuals heal, strengthen their relationships, and reach their personal mental health goals. I would love to serve as a supportive resource for you throughout your healing journey. Please note: My current openings are Wednesdays through Fridays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
First session
During our first session, we will start with brief introductions, review informed consent, and discuss the limitations of confidentiality. From there, we will explore your primary concerns and begin formulating your treatment goals. If we decide we are a good fit for one another, we will establish a session schedule that works for you—whether that means meeting weekly, bi-weekly, or on an as-needed basis. Please note that our therapeutic approach can adapt over time to better support your changing needs and life stressors. I strive to offer a flexible framework that honors your schedule and allows us to develop a frequency that works best for you. IMPORTANT: Initial assessments and intakes for minors require the participation of a parent or legal guardian. If custody is shared, we must receive and review custody documentation prior to the intake to verify who holds the legal authority to request and authorize mental health services. Additionally, an adoption decree will be requested when applicable.
Strengths
I believe therapy starts with a safe foundation, which is why I focus on creating a supportive space where you can share your thoughts and feelings completely freely. My practice blends client-centered, solution-focused, and CBT tools depending on what fits your journey best. My goal is to help you build realistic, everyday coping strategies that work for your life, all while keeping self-care at the center of your healing.
Ideal clients
Starting therapy takes courage, and I am excited to work with anyone ready to take that first step. Together, we’ll use our time to strengthen your current skills and learn new tools for managing life's ups and downs. I strive to create a peaceful, safe sanctuary where you always feel validated, supported, and hopeful about your future. If you are willing and ready.. please let me welcome you into this journey of healing.
Origin story
Working with children and families in a helping capacity has always been my calling. Through my experience, I realized that my core strength lies in therapy—guiding others with the same empathy and respect I wish to receive.
Ongoing work together
You will know counseling is working not because your problems disappear or because you feel happy all the time, but because you catch yourself handling a hard moment differently—recovering a little faster, setting a boundary you used to avoid, or using a tool we practiced here when life gets heavy. Progress shows up in the quiet spaces between sessions: in how you talk to yourself, how you bounce back, and how you choose your next step.
Treatment methods
Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT)
I have been providing Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) services since 2012. PCIT is an evidence-based, short-term treatment proven to transform child behavior and strengthen family bonds with lasting results. Over the course of 12 to 16 weeks, I coach parents to master specific communication and behavioral tools. By practicing these skills in real-time, parents gain the confidence to successfully manage behavioral challenges and foster a calmer, happier home.
Psychoeducation
Over the last two decades, I’ve focused my practice on helping clients deeply understand their symptoms and discover the best ways to manage them. Facing mental health challenges can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to figure it out alone. Through compassionate psychoeducation, I aim to provide you with the insight and practical tools necessary to regain control and feel truly supported in your healing journey.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
We often don't realize how much our thoughts shape our feelings and behaviors. In our sessions, we will create a safe, judgment-free space to explore the negative or self-limiting beliefs you've been carrying. Together, we will build a gentle plan to invite in more encouraging, hopeful, and constructive ways of thinking.
Family Therapy
Communication can get stuck in old patterns. I help families break those cycles through guided sessions focused on active listening, empathy, and teamwork.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I specialize in short-term, collaborative therapy that supports clients in setting clear goals and taking actionable steps to reach them.
