Greetings! I am Dr. Danielle Dance. I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University and have 17 years of experience providing therapeutic services. I intended to engage in assessment and research when I started graduate school. Over time, therapy became one of my favorite areas of psychology. My primary focus has been on helping individuals recover from narcissistic or suspected narcissistic relationships, learning emotion regulation in the face of triggers or visceral activation, and helping those individuals find their voice/sense of self-worth. I also work with individuals with a history of other forms of trauma. As a fellow neuro-spicy individual, I work well with fellow ADHDers and other similar categories. My experiences in life have been diverse and as such my views are often open and accepting.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we will gather some information that helps me to better understand a bit about your history, then dive into the bigger picture of your individual experience. I usually end the first session with a small homework assignment and a forward moving direction to get us ready for the sessions ahead.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a clinician, I come armed with life experiences, empirically validated interventions, extensive education and ongoing trainings. My willingness to understand individual experiences often creates a space that feels safe, and inviting. I know what it is like to feel judged and my hope is that I provide a space that feels collaborative, comfortable and safe. It may take some time for us to get to know one another. I am confident my experience, empathy and ability to recognize patterns will help to create this environment, with your help.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with individuals that seek to build a sense of self love, esteem and acceptance. I cannot express the joy it creates when you get to see someone realize that they have overcome something they previously thought was impossible. Helping people to find their inner strength, voice and self-acceptance are my favorite part of the work that I do.

Dani was so authentic in our talk and it made me very comfortable to fully be myself and be open with the way I've been feeling and thinking. She's uniquely polite in her directness and it was much appreciated. Unlike any other therapist I've spoken to in the best possible way.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing to assist clients to see the progress they have already made, maintain progress, and learn to validate the self. Motivational Interviewing is a great way to gain insight into difficulties and identify tools already being used well.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT to help identify and get ahead of intrusive thoughts, automatic thinking and cognitive distortions. Tools like thought stopping and cognitive restructuring can go a long way to help decrease symptoms severity, frequency and intensity over time.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I utilize DBT methods to assist clients with learning to regulate emotions, understand interpersonal difficulties, manage crisis situations and gain greater awareness of the mind and body.

Compassion Focused

Learning to have compassion for yourself can be difficult. I incorporate this method into my therapy styles to help increase self love, self compassion and often increasing compassion for others as well.
