New to Grow
Hello, my name is Shakira Barbarossa, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. My journey to becoming a mental health provider began with a passion for helping others navigate life's challenges. Over the years, I have a combined education, training, and real-world experience to develop a compassionate, collaborative approach that empowers clients to grow, heal, and reach their goals. I love what I do.
In our first session, we will get to know each other. We’ll discuss your background and what brings you to therapy. We will talk about the therapy process and your expectations. Therapy is a process, and we’ll continue to build our work together over time.
I believe that a strong and trusting bond in counseling allows the client to feel comfortable and secure in sharing thoughts and feelings, which allows a process of healing and personal growth. I offer a safe space to explore your story, untangle old wounds, and reconnect with your inner strength. Together, we'll navigate what's holding you back and make space for what's possible. Yo hablo ESPAÑOL y se lo importante que es poder expresar las emociones en su lenguaje y con exactitud.
I adopt a client-centered approach, working collaboratively with clients to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to their unique needs and objectives. Counseling can be essential during challenging life transitions such as divorce, family or friendship breakdowns, the loss of a loved one, relocating to a new country or state, significant changes in job, or lifestyle.I work collaboratively with my clients to create goals that truly matter to them, turning hopes into clear, achievable steps. Together, we track progress, celebrate wins, and adjust the path when needed.
In my practice, I often use CBT, which focuses on the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we explore patterns that might be keeping you stuck and practice new ways of thinking and coping that feel more supportive and empowering. Over the years, I've seen how CBT helps people gain real, practical tools they can use right away to manage anxiety, depression, and every day challenges. My experience has taught me that even small shifts in thinking can create meaningful changes in how you feel and move through life.
