Seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, and finding the right therapist is an important first step. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, and substance use. My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are—without fear of judgment.
My approach is warm, genuine, and collaborative. I believe therapy should feel like a conversation with someone who truly listens while also helping you challenge the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Together, we’ll identify your strengths, process difficult experiences, and develop practical tools you can use outside of our sessions.
I understand that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. Whether you’re navigating stress, working through past trauma, rebuilding after addiction, or simply trying to better understand yourself, I’ll meet you where you are. My hope is that you leave each session feeling heard, empowered, and more confident in your ability to move toward the life you want

About Darleena Cozzo , is a licensed professional counselor serving Virginia and Tennessee who has over 28 years of experience in the social services field. Darleena's style is warm and professional and, at the same time, passionate and committed to you and your relationships. Darleena focuses on personal and spiritual growth to over-come the fears, regrets, and excuses that keep us stuck, depressed, anxious and unable to ACT. Many of us have made choices based on fear instead of purpose and hope. As a result , we live lives that we never intended for ourselves. Our relationships, our families, our careers, our lifestyles are very unsatisfying, at best, and damaging and crippling at worst. This marginal existence is not what you intended; nor was it intended for you . You were meant for MORE; more gratitude, more love, more happiness, more peace. Come see me and lets beginning the Passage of Healing.
I am a psychotherapist who works with a diverse population of people. My goal is to collaborate with individuals to assist them in achieving their therapy goal(S). My treatment modalities are cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and Ericksonian hypnotherapy approaches. Although I used these modalities, I do not use a one size fits all approach. I am a think-out-of-the-box clinician that will often challenge clients to try approaches that may be out of their comfort zone. Some examples of my experience include working with individual clients on developing skills in coping with mental health conditions/diagnosis, life stress, finding balance, and improving self-esteem. Although I use these approaches, my clients tell me it feels like we are having a conversation as opposed to feeling like they are in a therapy session. I have a specialization in working with Veterans, LGBTQI, men, and people of color populations. However, I work with all people who are seeking mental health services. I am licensed in DC (LICSW), VA (LCSW), MD (LCSW-C), and PA (LCSW). I have BS in Human Ecology, BA in Humanities from The Ohio State University, MSW from San Jose State University and Post Masters fellowship in mental health from Stanford University.

Hi! My name is Dr. Vicki Carter. I earned my doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Capella University, 2008. I specialize in trauma, mood and personality disorders. Hello! My name is Ms. Tawanda McPhatter and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Virginia. I received my Master's Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and I have been providing therapy services for 12 years. I allow my clients a safe space to discuss their issues, concerns, and needs for themselves using behavioral approaches. I am a very avid listener and I feel that listening is very important when assisting my clients and helps identify their feelings and thoughts on things so that I can identify ways that I can be of assistance in helping to work through and/or address these issues and/or concerns.
I believe that collaboration and partnership are what yields the best results in therapy and this is reflected in how we talk about goals and what "progress" looks like for each individual client. My aim is to empower clients and bring them closer to what is most important and meaningful to them.
I believe that each person is the expert of their own experience. Through the lenses of compassion and resilience-focused approaches, we will build insight to gain a better understanding of your past and present experiences and how these impact your relationships, behaviors, beliefs, and quality of life.
You’ve done therapy before. You got insight. Maybe even some relief. And then you ended up right back in the same patterns.
That’s the work I do.
I work with adults dealing with eating disorders, trauma, burnout, and the kind of “functional” that looks fine from the outside but is not sustainable. Most of my clients are not new to therapy. They are frustrated that what helped didn’t hold.
I have over 25 years of experience across inpatient, outpatient, and private practice, including higher levels of care in eating disorder treatment. I am licensed in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina, and I hold advanced certifications in eating disorders, trauma, and DBT.
This is a telehealth practice designed to be structured, direct, and for people who are done circling the same insight without change.

I specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic stress, and emotional dysregulation. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and integrative, combining talk therapy with hands-on, skills-based interventions that clients can actively practice both in and outside of session. Treatment focuses on emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, values-based decision-making, and healthier interpersonal functioning.
I believe therapy is most effective when it is structured, supportive, and empowering. I work closely with clients to identify treatment goals, increase emotional insight, and develop practical tools that help them manage overwhelming emotions, reduce reactivity, and respond more intentionally to life’s challenges. Clients often describe my style as direct, compassionate, and focused on real-world application.
My goal is to help clients feel more grounded, confident, and equipped to manage anxiety, stress, depression, and emotional dysregulation while fostering long-term stability and personal growth.
My philosophical life view is based upon a positive psychological perspective which means I truly believe that one voice can change your day, week, month, future and the world! I have dedicated myself to helping teens, young adults and women become a better version of themselves no matter what life throws at them. I enjoy challenging my clients to think differently and then watching the benefits that occur when they find success. I want to continue to teach courage and confidence by touching and diving into subjects such as overcoming self-doubt, identifying scarcity thinking and toxic surroundings, and unbalanced relationships. By having my clients identify on their own, their own overthinking, unhealthy relationships and perfectionism, together we can create new patterns of thinking that can lead to increased self-efficacy, courage and confidence.

First of all, I love what I do and to witness the positive changes clients make in their lives as a result of choosing therapy to help them accomplish what they want. Often the goal is to achieve symptom relief so as to not be overwhelmed by anxiety, mood disorders or be better able to manage the challenges of ADHD. Sometimes there is not a specific outcome identified but a need for ongoing support for dealing with life transitions or difficult people. Sometimes clients use therapy as a confidential sounding board where they can talk to an objective outsider about situations and sort out their perspective. I offer various ways to see and respond to situations that might otherwise not be considered. Your opinion as a client is the most important one and I will also honestly provide mine when asked for. I believe therapy can actually be something that you can look forward to and an opportunity to learn new skills to use long after you discontinue, and we can even have some fun and laughs along the journey.
I’m a licensed therapist dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, clarity, and practical tools. I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and everyday stress. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions, strengthen coping skills, and make meaningful changes aligned with your values. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply seeking personal growth, I’m here to help you build resilience, gain insight, and move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.

I'm a Bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with 19 years of clinical experience, 15 years licensed within private practice.
I consider myself to be bicultural. Having been raised as a first-generation American in a Latin family, I can identify with the mentality of someone living within two "worlds". Transitioning from one culture to another with seemingly different values, beliefs and language. I can easily understand the struggle that maintaining, and existing in both, can sometimes be. I've come to perceive and appreciate it as the gift of having a "bridge" that allows connection to, and understanding of, different aspects of people and life.
My education has a foundation in Clinical Psychology, woven with holistic transpersonal themes, the connection between mind, body, and spirit, and just plain down-to-earth common sense. Always keeping in mind the client's personal beliefs and values.

I am Shannon Shackford, a licensed therapist. Welcome, I'm so glad you're here. Taking the first step toward therapy is a powerful act of self-care, and I want to acknowledge the strength it takes to explore support. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, navigating big life changes, or simply needing a space to be heard, this is a safe and supportive place for you. My approach is compassionate, down-to-earth, and tailored to meet you where you are. Together, we'll work at your pace to uncover clarity, build resilience, and reconnect you with your sense of direction and self. If you're ready to begin-or just exploring what therapy could look like-I invite you to schedule a session. I'd be honored to walk alongside you in your journey.
