Jenelle McLeod
Hello and welcome! My name is Jenelle McLeod and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. I endeavor to support youth and adult clients who are working through life transitions, seasons of heaviness, and emotional pain. I have a background in education as a Professional School Counselor and have worked with youth in every grade level. This experience has given me a broad understanding of the many ways youth think, feel, and connect. I am fully trained in EMDR and incorporate it in my work to support clients beyond talk therapy. I utilize sound evidenced-based modalities to support personal growth and healing. All of my approaches are tailored the the individual to provide care particular to you. My way of being is warm, caring, and easy-going. My desire is to meet you where you are. I believe that therapy should be destigmatized, decolonized, and demystified. It’s not supposed to be scary and you may find it to be helpful. We can work through all the messy parts together. Healing is your right. Joy can be your portion and I hope to meet with you soon.
Strengths
I listen well. I maintain a soothing and peaceful atmosphere in the therapy room. It is also a fun therapy room! Laughter can be healing and a necessary release. Humorous moments are welcome! It is important to flow with my clients and allow them the space to settle in. I gently challenge clients when appropriate and find that leaning into my educator background, I can help them to learn about mental health and wellness with simplicity. Educating my clients makes the journey smoother and more cohesive. I am consistently learning and training to better client experience and to remain well-versed in mental health care.
