Dr. Norman Quintero is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over seven years of clinical experience supporting individuals and couples through life’s emotional, relational, and personal challenges. He is licensed to practice in California, Texas, Virginia, Louisiana, and Florida, and provides compassionate care for clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief, stress, anger management, and self-esteem concerns. Dr. Quintero’s approach is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. He integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with humanistic principles to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where they feel heard, respected, and validated. His goal is to help clients gain clarity, develop healthier coping skills, strengthen relationships, rebuild confidence, and move toward meaningful and lasting change in their lives.
Clients can expect to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, including how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence their daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. Through a collaborative and supportive therapeutic process, clients learn practical, evidence-based tools to manage anxiety, depression, emotional distress, stress, and relationship challenges while identifying patterns that may be keeping them feeling stuck. By integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with humanistic principles, therapy focuses not only on reducing symptoms but also on supporting the whole person. Clients are encouraged to build emotional resilience, strengthen coping skills, improve emotional regulation, increase self-awareness, and develop a healthier sense of self-worth and confidence. Each session is tailored to the client’s unique needs, values, and goals. In a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment, clients are empowered to explore their challenges openly, practice healthier ways of thinking and responding, and create meaningful, lasting change that extends beyond the therapy room.
What makes my therapeutic approach unique is the intentional balance between evidence-based treatment and genuine human connection. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with humanistic principles to provide therapy that is both practical and deeply personal. CBT offers structure, clear tools, and measurable progress by helping clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns, behaviors, and emotional responses. At the same time, the humanistic approach creates a space of empathy, authenticity, and respect, where clients feel truly heard, valued, and understood. This balanced approach allows clients to work toward symptom relief while also developing deeper self-awareness, emotional strength, and greater confidence in themselves. Clients are supported in building healthier coping skills, improving emotional regulation, strengthening relationships, and gaining clarity in how they respond to life’s challenges. My goal is to help clients experience meaningful and lasting growth, not just temporary relief. By addressing both the challenges that need attention and the person behind those challenges, therapy becomes a transformative process where clients can heal, grow, and move forward with greater confidence, balance, and purpose.
My ideal patient is someone who may not have all the answers yet but is willing to begin the process with honesty and openness. I work well with individuals, couples, and families who recognize that something in their life, relationship, or emotional well-being is no longer working and are ready to seek support, even when fear, doubt, or exhaustion are present. My ideal patient is not defined by a diagnosis, a past mistake, or a current struggle, but by a desire for growth, healing, understanding, and meaningful change. I especially enjoy working with clients who are open to self-reflection and willing to explore the connection between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, relationships, and life experiences. This may include individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, anger, stress, low self-esteem, identity concerns, or relationship challenges. I also work with couples who are committed to rebuilding trust, improving communication, healing emotional wounds, and strengthening their connection. Perfection is never expected in therapy—only honesty, effort, and a willingness to take the next step. My practice is a good fit for clients who value a therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, compassion, and collaboration. I welcome those who have been in therapy before, as well as those beginning therapy for the first time. Whether you feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, uncertain, or simply ready for something different, therapy can provide a safe and supportive space to feel heard, gain clarity, develop practical tools, and move toward greater resilience, confidence, and lasting change.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the primary approach used in my clinical practice because it is an evidence-based, structured, and goal-oriented treatment that has been extensively validated in clinical research and is strongly supported by the DSM-5-TR for a wide range of mental health conditions. CBT focuses on identifying and modifying maladaptive thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress, empowering clients with practical skills they can apply in daily life. Its collaborative and time-limited nature allows for measurable progress, improved emotional regulation, and lasting change, making it an effective and ethical approach for treating anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, and behavioral challenges across diverse populations.
Humanistic
Adding a Humanistic approach to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is highly relevant because it ensures that treatment is not only effective, but also deeply person-centered and relational. While CBT provides structure, skill-building, and evidence-based interventions, the Humanistic approach emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, authenticity, and respect for the client’s lived experience. This integration strengthens the therapeutic alliance, which research consistently identifies as a key predictor of positive outcomes. By combining CBT with Humanistic principles, therapy addresses both symptom reduction and the client’s inherent capacity for growth, allowing clients to feel understood, valued, and empowered while actively working toward meaningful and sustainable change.
