I have worked as a mental health counselor for five years. However, I have been in the field of helping people for 18 years, starting as a case manager at a homeless shelter and later as a special education teacher. What can I can say? People are my niche. Helping individuals get through life's difficulties is my purpose. The thing about it is, we may not be able to live 100% symptom-free, but we can live productive, fulfilling lives even with some discomfort. That may sound daunting, but I think it's realistic. Hello there, I'm Liz! I work with clients who are wanting to heal from past trauma experiences and get to the root causes of their struggles. Trauma changes the way you view yourself, others, and the world. It often has lasting impacts that can be manifested in your current struggles with anxiety, depression, true fulfillment in relationships, diminished executive functioning, and difficulty with honoring your needs and boundaries. My goal is to help you gain insight, build self-awareness, and foster personal growth. Some areas of focus I enjoy addressing with my clients include boundary building, negative core beliefs, strengthening internal validation, self-care, identifying trauma responses, addressing attachment wounds, aligning to your values, improving daily functioning, and developing healthy coping strategies. For those who desire and request it, I can integrate Christian-based counseling into the therapeutic process. I received my graduate clinical degree, M.S. in family therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 2014 and previous to this I received my undergraduate degree, B.S. in sociology with minors in psychology and child development in 2011 from Florida State University. I have been in the mental health field since 2012. I received her Masters degree in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. I have worked with adults, adolescents, children, and their families in both the Miami-Dade and Broward County School settings as well as adults and adolescents throughout the state of Florida in home, clinic and telehealth settings. I am a licensed therapist who is passionate about helping clients navigate burnout. I am passionate because I have been there and was tired of getting unhelpful answers from people who meant well but did not seem to understand.
