Trauma can impact any person; but it doesn't define the person. In therapy sessions, we process feelings and emotions related to the traumatic experience/event looking to heal and move forward. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, proudly holding that title since 2017 after graduating from NOVA Southeastern University in vibrant Miami, FL. My journey in the field has led me through 7 rewarding years in Foster Care, where I've had the privilege of making a difference. I also worked in a shelter with children and teenagers. Before my U.S. venture, back in my home country, Cuba, I earned my bachelor's degree and spent 8 fulfilling years as a Psychotherapist. For me, helping individuals become the best version of themselves isn't just a profession – it's a passion. Having spent 5 years as a Case Manager in a shelter, I understand the intricacies of challenging situations. Now, as a fervent advocate for Individual Therapy, I see it as an investment in your own well-being. Taking the step towards therapy is a decision I wholeheartedly recommend. Witnessing individuals tackle difficult situations head-on and embark on a journey of personal growth is incredibly rewarding. So, let's invest time and dedication in your well-being – it's not just therapy; it's a pathway to your own growth!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial session, we're diving into the crucial process of building trust. I'm here to genuinely understand your unique journey and what brings you to therapy. Together, we'll explore your goals, ensuring that our therapeutic journey is tailored to empower and support you in achieving the positive changes you seek. It's not just a session; it's the beginning of a collaborative and transformative partnership. Let's embark on this journey of self-discovery and growth together!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My superpower? I'm not just a listener; I'm your non-judgmental ally on this journey. I'm here not just to help, but to propel you forward. Guiding clients to master strategies, I'm all about fostering personal growth and ensuring you never give up on yourself. Let's transform challenges into triumphs together!

My treatment methods

Trauma-Focused CBT

This is a research based treatment that I've been mastering since I also work with children and teenagers that are placed in a foster home. Understanding the trauma and dealing trauma related issues is tough but worth it. The person will develop healthy and adaptive coping skills to deal with the symptoms that is experiencing, this is crucial to improve the mental health. For this approach, it is recommended at least 10 sessions of Individual Therapy.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I've been working with this approach and it helps the person to be present and take the best of every moment. Sime of the benefits of Mindfulness are: Decreased Depression, Increased Emotional Regulation, Reduced Anxiety and Stress, Better Memory, Cognitive Improvements, Stronger Relationships, When to Use Caution, and Better Physical and Mental Health.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This approach is great for the person to trust his own decisions or building healthy interpersonal relationships. It helps the person to develop a stronger sense of self-identity and self-worth.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy aims to stop negative cycles. It helps to to break down things that make you feel bad, anxious or scared. By making your problems more manageable, CBT can help you change your negative thought patterns and improve the way you feel. Your thoughts are very powerful, lets use it on our favor. I like this approach because the person increase the positive self-talk and also the self-esteem.
