Hi I'm Shaneka ! I am a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist dedicated to helping clients find healing, balance, and renewed purpose. I specialize in working with Black women, single mothers, and survivors of domestic violence and trauma who are navigating stress, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the emotional demands of caring for others while often putting themselves last. My approach is compassionate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed, creating a safe space where clients can feel seen, heard, and supported. Using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based techniques, I help clients develop practical coping skills, increase self-awareness, heal from past experiences, and move toward the life they desire. I believe healing is a journey, and you do not have to walk it alone. My goal is to empower clients to rediscover their strengths, cultivate resilience, and experience meaningful and lasting change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your story. During our first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, and any challenges you are experiencing. This conversation helps me gain a better understanding of your unique experiences and the goals you hope to achieve. Together, we will identify your strengths, explore what healing and growth look like for you, and begin developing a plan tailored to your needs. You are welcome to share at your own pace—there is no pressure to discuss everything in one session.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring warmth, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to helping clients feel safe, understood, and empowered. My approach is rooted in compassion and cultural responsiveness, allowing me to create a space where clients can show up as their authentic selves without fear of judgment. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I combine evidence-based practices with a trauma-informed lens. My approach stands out because I recognize that every person's story is unique. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model of therapy. Instead, I collaborate with clients to develop individualized treatment plans that honor their strengths, values, culture, and lived experiences. I am particularly passionate about supporting Black women, single mothers, and survivors of trauma and domestic violence who are navigating stress, anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I understand the pressures many women face when they are expected to be everything for everyone while neglecting their own needs.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve adults who are experiencing anxiety, stress, trauma, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or the effects of past experiences. Many of my clients are high-functioning individuals who appear to have it all together on the outside but feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected on the inside. They are seeking a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive space to process their experiences, develop healthier coping skills, and create meaningful change. My clients are often motivated to better understand themselves, heal from trauma, improve their relationships, establish healthy boundaries, and cultivate greater balance and emotional well-being. Using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions, I help clients build resilience, increase self-awareness, and move toward a more fulfilling and purposeful life.
