As a therapist I utilize clinical interventions and techniques that are individualized to unique issues of the client. I have extensive training and experience in evidence based treatments such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). In addition, I am also trained in sex therapy and incorporate sex positive approaches with clients. In my experience I find that an integration of clinical modalities is often most effective and appreciated by clients. Overall I approach my work with clients from a strength-based perspective. I believe that clients possess the strengths and resources within their lives to be successful in overcoming the challenges and problems that they face. These challenges come in the form of mental health problems, relationship issues, or other stressors that arise out of life circumstance. My commitment is to use the most appropriate techniques and interventions that allow clients to resolve problems, reduce symptoms, and increase personal strengths and skills for dealing with these issues in the future. Clinical areas of experience and expertise include the treatment of depression, anxiety, personality disorders, sexual problems, sexual orientation, LGBTQ issues, relationships and sex, alternative lifestyles, and substance use disorders. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you. LGBTQ+, men's issues, intimacy and sexual issues, sexual orientation, anxiety and depression in men,
I have been using CBT for the past 15 years to help clients become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so that can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. CBT can be a very helpful tool — either alone or in combination with other therapies — in treating mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety. I often integrate CBT with other therapeutic modalities specific to a client's needs.
I am a sex positive therapist trained in sex therapy approaches to assist clients. I use sex therapy to help clients overcome various sexual problems such as low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, or pain during sex. In addition, sex therapy is used to assist clients work through shame based messages that they have learned over the years which are negatively impacting their sex lives. I assist my clients in developing a more positive approach to sex in their lives.
I have over 15 years of experience working with couples using an integrative approach to therapy. Adopting an integrative approach to therapy has allowed me to use methods that are most appropriate for the couple. These may include approaches such as cognitive behavior therapy, solution focused therapy, or intimacy and sex therapy.
