After overcoming some of my own personal struggles by utilizing therapy, I began my career in mental health with a deep passion for helping people find healing and purpose through some of life’s most difficult moments. Over the years, I’ve been privileged to work with dually diagnosed populations, lead multidisciplinary teams, and implement quality assurance programs that elevate client care. Originally trained in both Environmental Sciences and Anthropology, my perspective as a therapist is grounded in curiosity, connection, and respect for each person’s unique story.

My main focus is to empower clients to better enable them to understand what is in their control and how they can make positive changes in their life. I am an LCSW with a Master’s in Social Work, passionate about supporting children, teens, and adults through life’s challenges. I take a Trauma-Informed, Strengths-Based approach, using tools like CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic therapy to help clients create lasting change. Outside of work, I love practicing yoga, spending time in nature and reading, which inspire mindfulness and balance in my life and practice.

I believe that therapy is for all regardless of age, sex, gender, sexuality, and ethnicity. My passion for being a therapist has grown while working in an inpatient rehabilitation facility for those dealing with addiction and mental health crises. My approach is focused on identifying the root cause of the problem whether anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, bipolar disorder, etc My goal involves you (the client) in it, my experience is that therapy works when it's collaborative.

Lisa Amodeo 30 years of experience and is dual Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois. She holds her Master’s Certified Addictions Professional (MCAP) through Florida Certification Board and is Certified Reciprocal Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CRADC) from Illinois Certification Board, Inc. She is trained in EMDR through Emdria. Lisa received her Master’s degree in Educational Psychology in Mental Health Counseling from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1992. She grew up and was raised in South Florida. She has worked in a variety of therapeutic settings, such as detox, residential, PHP, IOP, and aftercare levels of care in substance abuse treatment; as well as community mental health, NorthWestern Medicine medical Floors, Veteran Health Administration with children, young adults, adults, and families.

Taking the first step to seek counseling can be challenging but also very empowering and rewarding at the same time. What I provide is a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to feel supported and heard. As a licensed mental health counselor with over 10 years of experience I have worked in various residential treatment centers, crisis and detox facilities, and hospitals in the community. My experience has equipped me with the knowledge to utilize a variety of treatment modalities and interventions to provide clients with the necessary tools they need to realize their full potential.
