I have been working in the mental health field since 2009 and completed my Masters in Counseling Psychology in 2013. I have worked with individuals with sever mental illness, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and bi-polar disorder. My passion has been working with youth and adults through life transitions and changes and the mood fluctuations that coincide. Therapy can be a tool in exploring frustrations, mood changes, low motivation, as well as anger that can come with various life transitions .
The first session is generally the getting to know each other session. This gives the client a chance to get to know what to expect from the therapist as well as the therapist to begin to assess you, the client. In this session there may be lots of questions, exploration of background, and gathering of information. Additionally, we review confidentiality, concerns, and begin to make a plan for treatment.
I work from a Cognitive Behavioral Approach, meaning I believe that our thoughts, both conscious and subconscious, influence our behaviors and vice a versa. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, and developmental transitions between teen and adulthood. Especially with the pandemic, that transition has been especially difficult on both the student and the families.
I have extensive history working with young adults working through life transitions, mood fluctuations and changes in relationships and friendships.
