Hi, I'm Kim. I am a warm, compassionate, and down-to-earth therapist who believes that healing happens through genuine human connection. As an immigrant, bilingual professional, and someone who has navigated significant life transitions and challenges, I understand how difficult it can be to ask for help and carry life's burdens alone. My approach is collaborative, authentic, and nonjudgmental. I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves while also feeling supported and challenged to grow. I believe that every person has strengths, resilience, and the capacity for change, even when they feel stuck or overwhelmed. In our work together, I combine empathy with practical, evidence-based strategies to help clients better understand themselves, develop healthier coping skills, improve relationships, and move toward the life they want to create. My goal is for clients to leave sessions feeling understood, empowered, and hopeful about their ability to navigate life's challenges.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brings you to therapy. I'll ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, strengths, and goals so I can better understand your unique experiences and what you hope to gain from treatment. The first session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine whether I am a good fit for your needs. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard and understood. Together, we'll begin identifying goals and developing a plan that feels meaningful and tailored to you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring warmth, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to helping clients feel seen, heard, and understood. My approach combines compassion with evidence-based practices, allowing me to provide both emotional support and practical tools for change. I strive to build strong therapeutic relationships where clients feel safe exploring difficult experiences while also feeling empowered to grow. As a bilingual therapist with experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, I value cultural humility and tailor treatment to each person's unique needs, strengths, and goals. Clients often appreciate my ability to balance empathy, honesty, and encouragement while creating a space that feels both supportive and collaborative.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, and difficulties with emotional regulation. I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves and want to develop healthier coping skills, stronger relationships, and greater self-understanding. I also enjoy working with clients navigating cultural or identity-related concerns, immigrants and first-generation individuals, healthcare professionals, caregivers, and those recovering from traumatic experiences. My ideal clients are motivated to explore new perspectives, build resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.

My treatment methods

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I practice culturally sensitive therapy by recognizing that each client's cultural background, identity, values, and life experiences play an important role in their mental health and healing process. I strive to create a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel seen, heard, and understood. As a bilingual therapist who has lived and worked within diverse communities, I understand how factors such as culture, immigration experiences, family dynamics, religion, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, gender identity, and sexual orientation can influence a person's experiences and access to support. I approach therapy with curiosity and humility, inviting clients to teach me about the aspects of their identity that are meaningful to them rather than making assumptions. I tailor interventions to align with each client's cultural values, strengths, and preferences while remaining mindful of systemic barriers, discrimination, and historical trauma that may impact well-being. My goal is to help clients feel empowered, respected, and supported in a way that honors their unique identities and lived experiences.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. Together, we explore how thoughts, emotions, and actions are connected, and develop practical coping skills to manage challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative, goal-oriented, and tailored to each client's individual needs and strengths.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to help individuals process and recover from traumatic experiences. CPT focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful beliefs that may develop after trauma, such as feelings of guilt, shame, or self-blame. Through a structured and supportive approach, clients learn to develop more balanced perspectives, reduce trauma-related symptoms, and move toward healing and recovery.

Compassion Focused

I use Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to help clients develop self-compassion and reduce self-criticism, shame, and feelings of inadequacy. Through mindfulness, self-compassion exercises, and emotional awareness, clients learn to respond to themselves with greater kindness and understanding, fostering resilience, emotional balance, and overall well-being.

Couples Counseling

I use a collaborative and supportive approach in couples counseling to help partners improve communication, strengthen emotional connection, and navigate conflicts more effectively. Together, we identify patterns that may be creating challenges in the relationship and develop healthier ways of expressing needs, building trust, and working toward shared goals. My goal is to create a safe space where both partners feel heard, understood, and supported.
