New to Grow
My core belief is simple: I believe in you and your ability to become the healthiest, most fulfilled version of yourself. Life often makes it hard to see that potential, let alone know how to get there. My role is to be your guide and ally on that journey. My path to becoming a clinician has been intentional. Beyond my master's degree in counseling and advanced post-master's training, my work in non-profit and community mental health has given me a breadth of experience with people from all walks of life. This doesn't mean "I've seen it all," but it does mean that I'm prepared to meet you where you are, without judgment. No matter what you're going through, if you are ready to take a step, so am I.
You can expect our sessions to be focused, collaborative, and always centered on your goals. Our process will feel clear and empowering. In our initial session I'll get an opportunity to get a snapshot of who you are, where you're coming from, and what's getting in your way. The task is to describe the "problem" just enough so you can describe what you want to see in a solution. This way we establishing goals that become the path we follow.
In our work together, you will: Gain Clarity: We will clearly define the challenges getting in your way and, more importantly, create a vivid picture of what "better" looks and feels like for you. This vision becomes our roadmap. Build a Toolkit of Skills: You won't just talk about problems; you will leave with practical, evidence-based skills to manage difficult thoughts, regulate emotions, and take effective action in your daily life. See Measurable Progress: We will periodically use assessments and check-ins to track your progress. This ensures our approach is working and allows us to adjust our plan when needed, so our time is always spent effectively. Ultimately, you can expect to leave our sessions not only with relief from your symptoms, but with a stronger sense of self, a greater capacity for resilience, and a clearer connection to what makes your life meaningful. My commitment is to you and your process. If something is important to you, it matters in our room—because everything about you matters.
My experience in community mental health presented opportunities to serve people from nearly every walk of life with just about every kind of treatment goal. I find I have been especially helpful to people who feel stuck at a point in life and uncertain what they need to move forward or find change. Young adults searching for direction and motivation, career professionals feeling unfulfilled, elder clients facing their unique challenges, men and women alike burdened with cycles of shame or addiction... Anyone ready to try something new.
I identify as
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT is about changing how we think about and relate to our core pains. Together we develop new capacity ("psychological flexibility") to face, manage, and overcome symptoms.
Positive Psychology
You are not your problem, and you don't deserve to feel bad about how bad you already feel. You are the solution, and you've been here the whole time.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
If we want to see a behavior change we have to look at the sources of action: your thoughts and feelings. CBT lets us develop the skills you need to interrupt that negative thought spiral.
Existential
When you know where meaning and purpose comes from, you find the courage to act.
Motivational Interviewing
You've had a hard time quitting something. (Or, maybe starting something.) Together we can develop a plan that gets you more than ready to take action and stop (or start) for good!
