I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and Christian counselor committed to helping individuals find healing, purpose, and peace emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. With a strong foundation in both clinical approaches and faith-based perspectives, I specialize in integrating clinical counseling with Christian principles for individuals who want to connect their faith with their mental health journey. Sharlene’s counseling practice is built on the belief that true healing begins with relationships, especially the one you have with yourself. Her work focuses on helping individuals reconnect with their identity, build self-confidence, and develop the tools needed for lasting personal transformation. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, Sharlene provides a safe and nurturing space for growth.
In our first session, we’ll begin by reviewing informed consent, discussing your rights as a client, the limits of confidentiality, and ensuring you understand how your personal information is protected. We’ll also talk about safety both your emotional well-being and any concerns you may have about harm to yourself or others so that we can create a secure and supportive environment. From there, we’ll explore your current concerns, personal history, and what you hope to gain from therapy. You’re welcome to share whether you'd like a clinical or faith-integrated approach. This session is about building trust, setting goals, and helping you feel safe and supported as we begin your therapeutic journey.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to listen with empathy and create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. This supportive environment is foundational to my therapeutic approach whether clinical or faith based as it fosters trust and openness, which are essential for meaningful change. By building a strong therapeutic alliance, I’m able to guide clients through structured, evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helping them explore challenges, develop insight, and apply practical tools with confidence and support.
My ideal client is someone who is seeking support in managing their emotions, navigating relationship challenges, or coping with issues such as anxiety, depression, or trauma. Whether they prefer a clinical approach or wish to incorporate their Christian faith into the process, they are open to self-reflection, learning new skills, and engaging in meaningful change. They value a supportive, goal-oriented therapeutic relationship and are ready to work collaboratively toward greater emotional resilience, healthier relationships, and overall well-being.
Over the past seven years as a therapist, I have regularly applied Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and achieve lasting behavioral change. I’ve used CBT across a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, and trauma, tailoring interventions to each client’s unique needs and goals.
As a Christian counselor with seven years of experience, I have integrated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a faith-based approach to help clients align their thoughts and behaviors with biblical truth. By combining practical CBT techniques with spiritual guidance, I support clients in overcoming anxiety, depression, and life challenges while deepening their relationship with God.
