New to Grow
I am Randell Morgan, a licensed professional counselor, certified addictions counselor, and anger management specialist. I have been serving in the mental health field since 2000, and I continue to grow in my learning and life. I am an avid creative. I have produced and written music. I enjoy photography. I have written, directed, and made short and feature films, and I employ creativity within my work. Creative clients find it easier to manage their situation and themselves when they use their gifts. One of the things that I enjoy creating most is a safe space for my clients.
During our first session, I am your listening ear. I will spend 40-50 minutes validating your experience so that you know that you are heard and not alone in your journey. We will create a plan for you to have the outcome that you desire for your situation, your life, or your mental wellness. We may laugh a little and cry a little. But more than anything, we will connect.
My formal therapeutic approach is a solution-focused/narrative therapy hybrid. This means that after we identify the problem, we will focus exclusively on the solution. The next time we discuss the problem will be during the narrative therapy phase, where we explore and discover the meaning behind what you experienced. Together we will identify and plan for your next and more fulfilling chapter of your life.
My ideal client may or may not know which direction they are heading but they know that they can not continue doing things or operating in the way that they have been. Youhave identified that their current state of mind is either unhealthy or at minimum, not as productive as you would like it to be. The idea of mental wellness may have alluded you through poor choices or trauma. At this point, you are willing to allow some in, someone trustworthy, to assist in this next chapter of your life. I am here for you, not in a cliche way but in a "your mental wellbeing is my reward" - kind of way. Let's continue this journey together.
Our stories are ours to live, to master, and to recreate. There may be some parts of your story that you wish had not happened, but that part makes you who you are. Just as you cannot continue to write your backstory forever, you cannot live in it either. I will serve as your coeditor and writing partner as you create the new chapters of your life.
Sometimes you want to call out for help so that someone can fix it. What we make not realize is the only person that knows how and can fix it is ourselves. We will explore your current strengths —known and unknown —and carve them into keys to unlock the chains that bind us. We will acknowledge the problem and focus on the solution. Life is too short to dwell on problems. I will be your partner as we conduct strategies to address our issues and execute the solution.
