Hello, I'm Maya. Do you ever feel that life seems to have a tight grip on you and you don't know how to break free? Like, no matter what you seem to do, it feels as if things will never change? Does seem as if trying to balance all of your different roles can be overwhelming? Well, if your answer was yes to any of these questions, this is where I come in to play! I am here to help you create and design a safe space to express and share your emotions and feelings. To figure out ways to navigate through the ebb and flow of life. We will use a holistic approach, addressing your body, mind and spirit. I am able to integrate mindfulness and art to assist you in having a stronger relationship with yourself. This is your journey and we move at your pace. I am here to help guide you through those overwhelming feelings, relationship issues, anxiety and depression, so that you know you are not alone. The thought of therapy can be scary, but you took the first step and made the right decision. You deserve to heal and grow! I will meet you where you're at and provide empathy along with evidence-based techniques to assist you with overcoming the challenges of life. Come on in and take a seat!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session is a time for the client and myself to get to know one another. I want to hear the expectations of the client and learn about the changes they would like to make. I would discuss my background, confidentiality, structure of the sessions and provided numbers they may call in case of an emergency. We would begin to build a rapport as we converse and collaborate about goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe in tailoring the experience for each individual by active listening and allowing you to ask questions when guiding you towards your answers. So if we are discussing trauma, I want to know the background and how it is currently affecting you in the here and now. How do we address those issues and the impact it is having on current relationships. Challenging those anxious and depressive thoughts in regards to how you see yourself as well as society. Exploring why certain relationships may have such a tight grip on your life and the connection to other relationships. How that loss of a job, loved one or relationship continues to impede you from healing. These are the areas that I love to work with to assist you in your growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I enjoy utilizing CBT in treatment with clients because it allows them to see how challenges in their past impact how they think in and act. In being able to help them navigate ways to view themselves positively, changing their way of thinking/behaving and implement into daily living is profound.

Narrative

This treatment is used to allow the client to know they are not their problem and they are separate from it. It gives the client the opportunity to look at their past and decide how they would like to rewrite their present/future.

Integrative

Integrative Therapy is a form of therapy I enjoy because it involves four possible approaches that would work best for the client. It allows the client and clinician to collaborate on treatments that would benefit the client. This form of therapy has worked well with my clients who have concerns with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma and PTSD.
