Hello, my name is Lee Amaral, LCPC, ATR. I am an Artist, Art Therapist and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. With a passion for creativity and mental health wellness, I created Loamy Creative Wellness, LLC to be a virtual therapeutic art studio that serves as a creative digital portal to make space for freedom, love, connection, curiosity & authenticity. I’ve had the privilege of working with people of all ages, using art-making to promote emotional healing and transformation. I’ve seen firsthand how art can support individuals in processing trauma, anxiety, and depression, and I’m committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for people to explore their creativity, internal world, and experiences. I assist folks through individual therapy, group art therapy, creative workshops, mindfulness, and artists/creatives support spaces. I function from a relational, ecowomanism, afrofuturism and Black Queer feminist framework where I use creative processes, curiosity, and compassion as a guide to assist folks in making the shifts, naming experience, and moving towards value aligned living. The modalities that I weave into my practice are DBT, ACT, and CPT. I also use mindfulness and body practices with the purpose of integrating the body, mind, and spirit. If you’re seeking a supportive and experienced guide on your healing journey, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

I’m not the kind of therapist who just listens quietly—I believe therapy should give you practical tools you can use in your daily life. My hope is that, over time, you’ll feel confident and resilient enough that you no longer need therapy at all. When you’re caught in cycles of overthinking, it can feel like you’re solving problems—but often it’s just your mind’s way of keeping you stuck. The way out isn’t more thinking, it’s movement—whether that’s physical, emotional, or spiritual. And it doesn’t have to be big. Even the smallest step forward can start to shift the pattern and open the door to change. If your mind is racing, or you feel trapped in panic, anxiety, or self-doubt—you don’t have to stay in that place alone. I help people slow down, calm their nervous system, and find clarity again, even when life feels overwhelming. We don’t have to fix everything in one conversation. Gentle, steady support can help your body shift out of fight-or-flight and back into balance. You don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I’ll sit with you through it, and together we’ll build the steps that help you feel grounded, stronger, and more at ease. I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois. I specialize in helping people navigate anxiety, OCD, life transitions, burnout, low self-esteem, and tough emotions like anger. My approach is practical, brain-based, and rooted in compassion.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Illinois rather than a city like Chicago?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Illinois from Rockford to Springfield! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Illinois.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
