New to Grow
Hi, I’m Janelle, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I love working with teens, college-aged young adults, and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or just feeling stuck and wanting more meaning in their lives. My approach is warm, conversational, and creative—I meet you where you are, offering a space that’s judgment-free and centered on growth. Together, we’ll explore what’s working, what’s not, and build tools to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself.
Your first session with me is super relaxed—no pressure, no expectations. We’ll just get to know each other and talk about what brought you here, what’s been on your mind, and what you’d like to get out of therapy. If you’re not sure what to say, that’s totally okay—I’ll ask questions and help guide the conversation. It’s really just a space for you to be yourself and see if this feels like a good fit.
One of my biggest strengths as a therapist is that I truly get it—I’ve personally experienced anxiety and depression, so I understand how heavy and confusing life can feel sometimes. That experience helps me bring genuine empathy, patience, and understanding into my work. I also love reading and being creative, and I often bring that same curiosity and creativity into therapy—whether that’s through journaling, art, or simply finding new ways to see things.
Sometimes life just feels like a lot—especially when you’re trying to figure out who you are, what you want, or how to handle everything coming your way. I love working with teens and young adults who feel things deeply, overthink, or just want to understand themselves better. You don’t have to have it all figured out here—therapy with me is a relaxed, creative space where we can talk, reflect, draw, journal, or just be real while you learn tools to feel more confident and connected to yourself.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in a down-to-earth, conversational way to help clients notice unhelpful thoughts and reframe them into more balanced, empowering ones that support growth and self-compassion.
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients find balance between acceptance and change. Together, we build skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, and communication to navigate life’s ups and downs with more confidence and calm.
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients tap into their own motivation for change. Through open, supportive conversations, we explore goals, values, and ambivalence to spark insight and build confidence in taking the next steps forward.
