I am Casey Linda Unger, Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been in the mental health field since 1996 and licensed since 2002.
My experience ranges from working with the chronically mentally ill in public mental health, private practice, inpatient psychiatric, diagnostics/assessment, crisis intervention, anger management, and employee assistance.
My primary approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the effectiveness it has in pointing out negative thought patterns.
Through CBT I can help you see unconscious schemas that are leading you to do what you do, where they came from, how they developed, and ultimately how to become your own therapist reframing and moving forward on your own.
I believe that therapy should be rooted in compassion, understanding, and respect for each person's unique experiences. I value diversity & welcome clients from all walks of life, creating a safe and exclusive space where every voice is heard. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helping clients, identify and reframe unhelpful thoughts while developing healthier ways to navigate life's challenges. Together, we will work towards building resilience, fostering, self-awareness, and creating meaningful change.

My path to becoming a mental health provider began with a deep curiosity about the human experience and a genuine desire to help others find meaning and healing in their lives. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand how life’s challenges can impact our well-being, and I saw the profound difference that compassionate support can make. These early experiences inspired me to learn more about how we cope, grow, and ultimately thrive, even in the face of adversity. As I continued my education and personal growth, I became increasingly drawn to the field of mental health. I was captivated by the resilience and wisdom people bring to their healing journeys. I realized that being a provider would allow me to walk alongside others as they navigate their unique paths, offering guidance, encouragement, and evidence-based tools to support their goals. What truly motivates me is the belief that every person has the capacity for growth and transformation. I am honored to help create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make positive changes. My journey as a provider is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and a commitment to whole-person care, and I am grateful every day for the opportunity to support others.

I am a licensed independent practice-level clinical social worker. I have dedicated my career to working in behavioral health treatment. I have worked within the Department of Defense Schools in Europe and Asia. I have worked with Active Duty members, Veterans and their families. I have provided clinical supervision within both the Department of Defense headquarters and at the Veteran Affairs hospital, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Prior to joining the Civilian Service, I practiced mental health within the civilian community, my focus there was substance abuse, domestic violence and and a variety of mental health issues working with adolescents and adults. My strongest ability lies in helping a client identify strengths and weaknesses while guiding them to identify goals and interventions that will work specifically for them. The most challenging part of therapy is believing it will make a difference. The best way to overcome that hurdle is to see successful outcomes.
Clinical experience has taught me that if you are willing to do the work, you will see results. Using the appropriate interventions, combined with mutual openness, respect and trust will enable you to overcome obstacles and achieve goals you didn't believe possible. Through years of dedicated work with all age groups, life experiences and extremely challenging circumstances, I have developed a strong sense of commitment in creating a safe and supportive environment that fosters healing, self-awareness and growth.
In my 12 years of practicing psychotherapy, my focus has always been on the client—their struggles and their triumphs. I create a space where individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and various challenges feel heard and understood. Each session is a collaborative journey, tailored to your unique needs, as we work together to navigate the path towards healing and improved well-being.
I began my counseling journey as an adolescent, and eventually became a school counselor over a decade ago working with elementary to high school aged kids. Here at Live Consciously, we are a group practice dedicated to empowering individuals to heal from trauma and embrace self-love and worthiness.
What is the difference in our approach? We strive to break the barriers of traditional therapy by going beyond the mind and facilitating healing for the body as well. Research confirms that the body is what keeps the score, and we recognize that true healing requires addressing both the mind and body.
Our team works with adults of all ages to uncover the true source of their suffering. By going to the root of the problem, we help identify and resolve traumas, griefs, and unproductive belief systems that may be holding you back in life. I believe the most important aspect of counseling is feeling comfortable with the counselor. You need to be able to trust who you are working with has your best interest at heart and genuinely listens to help meet your therapeutic goals. If I am not the right fit for you, I will assist you in finding the right counselor. I have over 20 plus years experience.
My focus is reconciliation. Healing is often achieved through us becoming reconciled with self and/or others. It can be a process that allows us to identify and modify our thoughts and behaviors. We are all a work in progress and rightly so as circumstances are constantly changing. I believe that each person should have an opportunity to express themselves in a safe, nurturing, judgement free zone. As we seek to gain an understanding of self and others, often we experience a shift in our processing. If you are stuck or it feels like you are spinning out of control like a hamster on a wheel, let’s talk about “it”.
