I am Sunny Alexander, and I’ve been in practice for ten years treating clients working in various job placements. I’ve treated clients working inpatient and outpatient at a hospital. I instructed Intro to Psychology at a community college and I’ve been in private practice for ten years. My unique counseling services create safe space for healing and self-optimization for individuals striving to find purpose and evolution of the self. Through healing and and self growth, my clients are able to let go of a ‘ceiling-paradigm’ to live more meaningful and enriched lifestyles. I help clients learn to cope in healthy ways with the symptoms that they experience and we work together to explore how to thrive versus survive.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is an opportunity to build a rapport and trust with the client. Attending the first session with me you can expect to ask any questions, clarify expectations for therapy and to relax! I always tell my clients that booking the appointment is never easy and that attending the first session ican be a huge relief. We may not know what to get out of attending the first session. My clients usually report that they feel better and that they look forward to their next session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My ability to be authentic and real with people helps others feel comfortable and be genuine. My clients have told me that they feel safe and able to be completely honest because I’m not going to judge them. It is my job to help others learn how to be more self aware, process their thoughts/feeling/experiences and to learn how to validate themselves. I am passionate about my clients making progress and not feeling stuck in therapy. My unique approach to therapy and ability to treat issues from the core provides clients with long term progress and coping strategies. I help others by utilizing therapy techniques such as mindfulness, CBT, somatic(body) healing exercises, and solution focused techniques, among others. I function from a holistic trauma informed approach. My clients report that they are able to feel calm, gain trust, and make progress by the space we create. Learning how to validate ourselves, create boundaries, and use coping skills are fundamental to the therapeutic process.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an effective therapy technique that can help clients identify negative thinking patterns/behaviors and relearn healthy ways of coping.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

The mind body connection is enriched through teaching clients how to be more mindful. Mindfulness is paying attention in purpose and staying in the moment. We can make tremendous progress by learning how to be more present and how to pay attention. Mindfulness techniques and grounding skills are very helpful for panic attacks anxiety PTSD and depression.
