Hi! I am Damitra Smith, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor based in Katy, Texas, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with children/adolescents and adults and I specialize in depression, anxiety, ADHD, codependency, and substance abuse/addiction. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and Acceptance Therapy to aid my clients in achieving their goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is spent working on getting to know you and gathering your personal history, current situation, and your reasons for seeking therapy. My clients will learn the purpose of therapy and what to expect during subsequent sessions with me. In our first session, we will build a connection and determine if working together is a good fit. Together we will decide what will work best for you moving forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe becoming a therapist was my calling. I enjoy helping people and I have always been interested in the study of people in their environment, the study of the mind, and the study of human behavior. My holistic approach to touching every area of my client's lives has been very helpful in moving them forward towards their goals.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I have found that my style and holistic approach to therapy are helpful to clients from preteens and adults in adjusting to life transitions and stressors and struggling with ADHD. Dealing with these struggles often comes with bouts of anxiety, depression, guilt shame, and codependency. I help my clients build the skills needed to weather the storm and come out stronger on the other side. My approach brings a more positive outlook on life and helps my clients reach their goals.

In Person-Centered Therapy, I believe you already have the tools for growth—my job is to provide the support and understanding to help you uncover them. By fostering a safe, compassionate space where you feel seen and heard, we’ll work together to unlock your potential. It’s all about empowering you to embrace your true self and thrive.
