Hi, I'm Sarah! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas with 19 years of experience in the mental health field and three years of providing Telehealth therapy full time. I currently work with female adults and male/female children and adolescents. If my schedule appears full, please reach out, as I may have additional availability. As a wife and mom, I understand the challenges of balancing personal, family, and professional responsibilities. Taking the first step toward counseling can feel overwhelming, but it is often one of the most meaningful investments you can make in yourself or your child. Clients describe me as compassionate, approachable, and easy to talk to. I tailor treatment to each client's unique needs using evidence-based approaches. I have experience helping clients navigate anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, grief and loss, self-esteem, motivation, and life transitions. I am also a TBRI® Practitioner and Certified Unified Protocol Clinician, with specialized training in trauma-informed care and emotional regulation. As a foster/adoptive parent, I bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to my work with children and families impacted by trauma, foster care, and adoption. If faith is important to you, I welcome incorporating your beliefs and values into our work together. My goal is to help you build on your strengths, develop practical tools for change, and move toward healing, growth, and a more fulfilling life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Before our first session, please complete all intake paperwork and assessment measures provided through the Grow platform, as well as the additional intake and consent forms that I will send to you separately through the portal. Completing these forms before your intake appointment allows us to make the most of our time together and helps me begin understanding your concerns and goals. If the required paperwork has not been completed prior to the appointment, your intake session may need to be rescheduled. If you would like, I also offer a free 15-minute consultation call prior to scheduling your intake session—just let me know. During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other. You'll have the opportunity to share as much of your story as you feel comfortable, including what has led you to seek counseling at this time. Together, we'll begin identifying your goals and developing a plan tailored to your unique needs. If you are seeking counseling for your child, I ask that a parent or caregiver join the first part of the intake session individually to provide background information and share any concerns. While the focus of treatment is always on your child, I take a systems approach and believe that collaboration with parents and caregivers is an important part of the therapeutic process. It truly takes a village. I work intentionally to build trust and rapport with children and teens, just as I do with adults. I explain the limits of confidentiality in a developmentally appropriate way and am transparent about any communication that may need to occur with parents or caregivers. Clients often find that my approach is engaging, relatable, and honest, helping children and teens feel safe, understood, and invested in the counseling process.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to combine professional expertise with genuine human connection. With nearly two decades of experience in the mental health field, along with personal life experiences that shape who I am, I strive to create a space where clients feel comfortable, understood, and never judged. I am down-to-earth and easy to talk to, while also drawing from evidence-based approaches to help clients make meaningful progress toward their goals. My hope is that you leave each session feeling heard, supported, encouraged, and equipped with practical tools for everyday life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

With my previous experience as a school mental health professional at various levels, I have supported kids and their parents through many issues and hardships that they have faced including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger, and school problems. During COVID, I became well versed with providing counseling in a virtual environment, and I am able to adjust and incorporate interactive activities with kids to keep it engaging, while at the same time focus on therapeutic goals. I also have special training (and personal experience as a foster/adopt parent) to work with kids and/or their caregivers who have experienced trauma. As a wife/mom, I am relatable and have personal and professional experience to provide counseling to women going through various struggles, roadblocks, and hardships. If you would like to incorporate your personal faith into counseling, please let me know, and we can make that as much of a priority as you would like.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered therapy focuses on building a genuine, supportive therapeutic relationship where you feel understood, respected, and accepted. I take time to get to know you (and/or your child) and walk alongside you in the process. Treatment is individualized and guided by your unique strengths, needs, and goals, allowing the therapeutic work to be tailored to what will be most helpful for you.

Integrative

Integrative therapy means I draw from multiple evidence-based approaches and tailor treatment to your specific needs and goals rather than using a single model. To name a few, I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the Unified Protocol, both of which are effective in addressing anxiety, depression, and related emotional difficulties by helping identify and modify unhelpful thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviors. I also integrate Strength-Based and Solution-Focused approaches to help you identify what is already working, build on your existing strengths, and develop practical, achievable steps toward meaningful change. Additionally, I am a trained TBRI® (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) practitioner, a model rooted in connection and relational safety, with a strong emphasis on responding to the needs behind behavior. This approach is especially supportive for children who have experienced trauma and for caregivers seeking tools to promote regulation, healing, and secure attachment.

Faith based therapy

I am a Christian therapist and can incorporate Christian faith and biblical principles into the counseling process for clients who would like that perspective included. Faith integration may involve prayer, scripture, or discussion of spiritual beliefs as they relate to your goals and concerns. This approach is always optional and guided by your preferences. I also provide respectful, client-centered care for individuals of all belief systems, whether or not faith is part of the work.
