(she/her)
Hi! I'm Belen. Are you looking for change but feel stuck? Maybe you are looking to break certain patterns or need guidance on how to cope with stress, anxiety, or depression. Perhaps you have reached a point in your life where you feel you have lost your identity, and need help connecting back to yourself. I am passionate about helping people create a more fulfilling life. A life where they can feel like themselves again. I enjoy working with people who are open-minded and willing to reflect in order to make necessary adjustments to improve their lives. As a Latina woman, I can offer a unique perspective to help empower women to have healthier relationships with themselves and others.
Our first appointment will be focused on getting to know you and your needs. I go through a variety of questions and build conversation to start coming up with a plan to help you reach your goals. This is also a good time to ask any questions you may have about my therapeutic process and to build your comfort level with me. I know the first meeting can be nerve-wracking, but usually by the end of the initial appointment, my clients report feeling much more at ease and hopeful about their decision to seek help.
My biggest strength is my natural ability to listen and make people feel comfortable. I can offer a safe space to explore, vent, and help you reach your goals...whatever they may be.
I mainly enjoy working with young adults ages 18-35, but have worked with people of all ages. I work best with people who are motivated, willing to reflect and put in the effort to make changes. I help clients address interpersonal issues, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, challenges with decision-making, and stress management. I am only offering individual virtual therapy at this time.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I believe our thoughts influence behavior and emotions, so I focus on ways to adjust our way of thinking and gain a new perspective. This is done with CBT by identifying unhealthy thought patterns, challenging them, and forming new beliefs that are less harmful. Sometimes we may not even realize how our beliefs can affect our mood and even our behavior. CBT is an approach that can help gain a better understanding of ourselves.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I often hear people say they feel out of touch with themselves, or like they don't know who they truly are. I use IFS to help identify and come to terms with different parts of ourselves, and find a better way to function while connecting with the most authentic version of themselves. I find that the more connected someone is to their identity, the less distress there usually is.
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma is something that is felt differently by everyone, so I make it a priority to be compassionate and careful when helping people who are trying to process their trauma. There are different ways to do this, the main method I use is narrative therapy, which means having clients write their story in different ways that will help them decrease intensity of triggers and dissociation. This approach gives the client coping skills to help learn how to navigate intense emotions associated with trauma, which in turn can help improve daily functioning and interpersonal relationships.
