Hello, I'm Heather, a seasoned counselor dedicated to providing compassionate support to individuals navigating life's challenges. With over 20 years of experience in Social Work and Counseling, including service as a Navy Veteran, I bring a wealth of expertise and understanding to my practice. As an Author, I've authored books aimed at simplifying complex medical and mental health issues, such as Hospice, Home Health, and Palliative Care. My commitment to enhancing accessibility and understanding in these areas underscores my passion for empowering individuals to take charge of their well-being. In my counseling approach, I prioritize active listening and client-centered care. Your growth and goals are at the forefront of our sessions, as I work collaboratively with you to navigate the path toward healing and personal fulfillment. In addition to individual counseling, I specialize in couples therapy, helping partners navigate complex issues like communication breakdowns, conflict resolution, and rebuilding trust. Through tailored interventions and empathetic support, I assist couples in cultivating deeper understanding, connection, and resilience within their relationships. I also offer individual counseling for personal growth, healing, and support, providing a safe and nurturing space for clients to explore their innermost thoughts and emotions on their journey towards greater well-being and fulfillment. Insight and progress can often be achieved in just one session, though the benefits of ongoing therapy are profound. Your willingness to engage in therapy is deeply appreciated, and I am here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

I'd say my upbringing inspired me from my home to school. I have seen and heard mental health being mentioned as important and encouraged to take care of. I'd say full circle of having gone to therapy, becoming a therapist, and providing therapy is rewarding in itself, I'd have to put a paragraph explaining why, so I'll leave it as that. I look at therapy as a unique relationship that both mirrors and overlaps qualities of a good friend, parent, sibling, partner, etc., where both the therapist and client focus on tackling the concerns he/she presents in therapy.

All things are interconnected. To feel better, you have to act better. To feel better, you have to think better. To think better, you have to feel better. To act better, you have to think better. To think, feel, and act better, you have to care for your physical health. To care for your physical health, you have to think, feel, and act better. Each has a corresponding effect on the other. However, the aspect of ourselves that we have the most direct control of is what we do, our acting. While we can influence other people, we cannot control other people. A great source of conflict and unhappiness results from our efforts to control others. If you want better relationships, the only thing we can control is what we do, how we choose to relate. We are responsible for what we do. Others are responsible for what they do. Accepting this fundamental reality and thinking, feeling, and acting in accordance with it is how we increase our experience of power, freedom, belonging, meaning and, very importantly, fun. My professional experience includes over 30 years of post-Master’s clinical work, including leadership experience in foster care, chemical abuse and addiction, inpatient and outpatient mental health services, and crisis intervention, de-escalation, and hospitalization. I am experienced in working with ages three through the elderly. I have worked extensively with youth and families, diverse populations and life issues, providing services in various settings, including family homes, schools, juvenile detention facilities, jails, outpatient clinics, and inpatient psychiatric facilities.

I am Dr. Claudia Nuñez, PsyD, MSW, a licensed psychologist with over a decade of experience helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. My approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), integrating mindfulness, somatic awareness, and narrative reflection. Yet beneath all techniques, my work begins with presence, listening for what your felt experience is trying to express. I understand symptoms not as flaws, but as adaptations, creative attempts to protect and make sense of pain. Through a trauma-informed and culturally responsive lens, I help you bring compassion and understanding to these parts of yourself, so that healing can unfold where it once felt impossible. Hello, i'm Randy. Despite having the title of being a therapist, I believe that no matter how many years of work experience a therapist has, and no matter how many credentials/degrees a therapist has, all of that goes out the window if they don't have the ability to click and level with their clients. Initiating therapy services may feel like a leap of faith; as one would have to initiate a process in which they will be meeting with a therapist who is a complete stranger to them in the beginning. So congratulations on taking the first step for seeking treatment ! I have worked with a variety of clientele throughout my career in the mental health field; which consisted of 3 years of working with adults, and 3 years of working with children/adolescents aged 3-17, as well as the adult population. My goal is to provide support to adults who are experiencing difficulties reaching their full potential in life due to both internal and external hardships.

As a warm and caring therapist, it would be my honor to be a part of your healing process. Through our work together, I am committed to helping you recognize your strengths and innate resiliency that would allow you to thrive at home, work, and in relationships.

You might be in a very dark sad and lonely place, or you may be feeling intense anxiety and sometimes even panic or perhaps you are dealing with a lot of pain and uncertainty due to illness or disability. Right now, you’re at the point of knowing that something has to change, you’re ready but you just don’t know how to do it on your own. You want to feel better. You just want to be yourself again, maybe a different or better version of yourself. As your therapist I can be a flashlight as you walk through this shadowy path that you find yourself on right now. Whether I use solution focused therapy, DBT, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, trauma informed CBT, Emotionally Focused couples therapy or a mix, what matters most is the safe environment we will create so that you can share openly and allow yourself to be vulnerable with someone who will truly listen, support and empower you as you create the best version of yourself possible.

I help my clients realize their personal goals through a trauma-informed and empathic approach. My expertise is working with people who have experienced a traumatic event and/or are experiencing mental health struggles/issues, helping them uncover obstacles that hinder their ability to reach their fullest potential. My lived experience brought me to help others as I would have loved to be helped: someone to tell me I’m not alone. Life is hard, and traumas become unbearable without someone in your corner to help process what you have been through.

My aim is to foster a supportive and safe space for you to explore your feelings, thoughts and challenges. My work will help you recognize the power within you & source( whatever you believe in is totally okay in my world, I respect all) and trusting that it all works out the way it should! I have also faced my own life challenges, moved across the country to my dream states and more, which I believe has taught me to have more compassion and an open mind. Hence, why I always state I am a human first. One of my biggest strengths that helps foster a safe space for my clients, is my unconditional acceptance & operating from an unapologetic authentic framework, whilst helping them get to the level they desire. * I do offer a scaling rate for fees, please reach out for more information on that*

It takes courage and resiliency to embark on the journey of finding your “best self.” Life is full of unique challenges and lessons including traumatic events, grief, relationships and family all can take their toll on our psyche. I use an eclectic, integrative, approach that includes Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Clinical Hypnosis for pain management, performance enhancement and memory retention among other treatments to find what restores joy and peace to you! My goal is to provide a supportive, caring space to work on your symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, post-partem depression, grief or any other diagnosis that is impacting your daily life. I am a Christian having attended all Christian Universities but embrace all spiritual practices. I respect all faiths, beliefs and cultures and consider myself an ally to the LGBTQ community. I very much believe in a holistic whole body wellness plan. Lets work on living your best life ever with Mind, Body and Spirit working together!
