I am currently only accepting new clients via teletherapy. After attending therapy myself, I realized how convenient teletherapy was in reaching my goals and feeling a sense of ownership over my time with fewer stressors to contemplate my ability to succeed (i.e. accounting for traffic time or taking time off work). Seeking help should come with fewer barriers and I want to provide you with that same peace of mind. I view therapy through a holistic viewpoint, in which I use the mind and body to help you get to the wellness you deserve. I am trained as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and as a Prepare-Enrich facilitator. I am fluent in both English and Spanish. My counseling experience is with youth, adolescence, adults, couples, and families. I look forward to meeting you and working together.

Hi, I’m Cyndi Oberdan, and if you’re reading my page, I can tell that no matter what you are going through right now, you have COURAGE. Maybe you don’t feel brave, but it takes COURAGE to ask for help, and Courage to venture “into the unknown.” I would be honored to journey with you on this new adventure of yours. I have been serving people for over 15 years. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in 2006 from the University of Florida in Recreational Therapy. Later, in 2013, I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Adelphi University. Over the last 15 years, I have had the privilege to work in a variety of settings. I started off working with individuals diagnosed with a developmental or intellectual disability and their families. I had the privilege of running a family respite program, and later the honor to manage a Community Habilitation program where I assisted individuals ages 13 to 60+ with achieving their goals. (These goals varied from basic life skills, to enhancing academic skills, to developing coping skills, all while increasing socialization and connection). Later I worked in Child Welfare, as a Child Protective Investigator; investigating allegations of abuse/neglect and ensuring child safety. I have also worked with families, assisting them with getting to the root of their issues while strengthening the family unit. Lastly, I have worked as a medical social worker, both in the hospital and in the outpatient Clinics, as well as in the Emergency Department. I provide crisis intervention, case management, and counseling services; assisting patients with trauma, adjustment disorder, grief and socioeconomic barriers. I use an eclectic approach to meet the needs of each individual client. Treatment modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness.

My practice offers a gentle, supportive, and compassionate approach—always grounded in kindness and, most importantly, free of judgment. I hold a master’s degree in School Counseling and am a licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 10 years of experience supporting students and families. My approach is warm, approachable, and grounded in realism, helping clients feel heard and understood. I use a solution-focused framework to guide individuals toward practical and meaningful growth. I’m proud to already work with many wonderful clients and am excited to continue expanding my practice to support even more people on their journey toward emotional wellness.
