I'm an LPC (TN), and LMHC (FL) with over 20 years of experience working with people impacted by trauma, anxiety, phobias, life transitions, perinatal experiences, and performance-related pressure and stress. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that meaningful healing, emotional shifts, and lasting change can happen more gently, and often much more quickly, than people expect.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other. Together we'll explore what's bringing you to therapy, where you've been feeling stuck, and what you'd like to be different. We'll begin identifying goals and discussing what will be most useful moving forward. My sessions are intentional and collaborative. I believe therapy should be insightful, practical, and focused on moving beyond understanding and into meaningful change. While some topics may be difficult, I believe therapy doesn't have to be heavy or overwhelming. Growth and healing can happen through connection, experience and yes, even humor.
One question has shaped the way I practice: Why do some people gain insight into their struggles yet continue to feel stuck? Over time, I came to believe that much of what keeps us stuck often operates outside of our conscious awareness. That belief led me to pursue additional training in approaches that go beyond insight alone. You may know logically that your safe, capable, or that something isn't a big deal, yet find that your mind or body responds as though it is. That's where I come in. I'm less interested in asking you to work harder or learn more ways to manage a response and more interested in shifting the response at the point where it is generated. My work integrates neuroscience, storytelling, imagery, and solution-focused approaches to support individuals in gaining relief and breaking through emotional patterns, performance blocks, limiting beliefs, or ways they may be holding back or struggling to show up the way they want to. Sometimes experiencing something differently can open up possibilities that understanding alone may not.
My approach is often a good fit for Individuals who have felt stuck despite their best efforts and are interested in change and open to exploring new ways of thinking, healing and moving forward. They may understand exactly why they've been feeling or responding a certain way or they may not. They may be experiencing guilt or shame, feeling held back, or noticing patterns they've been looking to shift. I don't expect them to have it figured out. My clients tend to be motivated, curious, and open to thinking a little outside of the box. They appreciate an active therapeutic process that fosters change, clarity, and connection.
Brainspotting is a brain-body approach that can help process experiences such as trauma, anxiety, and emotional distress that can be difficult to reach through thinking and talking alone.
CBT helps clients to identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, developing more accurate, balanced, and effective ways of thinking and responding.
Hypnotherapy uses focused attention and guided techniques to help clients access internal resources, develop new perspectives and create valuable change beyond conscious analysis alone.
I utilize strength based, solution and future focused models such as RRT (Rapid Resolution), to help clients access the resources they already possess while resolving the emotional and behavioral patterns that have been keeping them stuck. RRT does not require clients to relive painful experiences or "feel it to heal it."
