I'm Sherae Green, LMHC, CCTP, founder of Healing Roots Therapy. I believe that meaningful change happens when clients are willing to explore difficult experiences, challenge long-standing patterns, and actively engage in the therapeutic process. My approach is direct, collaborative, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed, balancing compassion with accountability to help clients create lasting change. I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and cultural identity issues. Whether you're struggling with the effects of past experiences, feeling overwhelmed by life's demands, or trying to better understand yourself, therapy can provide the space and support needed to move forward with greater clarity and confidence. Drawing from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, and attachment-based interventions, I tailor treatment to each client's unique needs and goals. Together, we'll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, develop practical coping strategies, and work toward meaningful, achievable goals. My goal is to help you gain deeper insight into yourself, strengthen your resilience, improve your relationships, and develop the tools to navigate life's challenges with confidence. If you're ready to invest in your personal growth and healing, I look forward to supporting you on your journey.
During our first session, we'll focus on getting to know one another and developing a clear understanding of what brings you to therapy. I'll ask questions about your current concerns, relevant history, relationships, and the goals you hope to accomplish through counseling. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about my approach and determine whether we're a good fit. My style is collaborative and direct. While I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space, I will also challenge unhelpful patterns, beliefs, and behaviors when appropriate to promote growth and lasting change. Together, we'll begin identifying your strengths, explore the factors contributing to your current challenges, and establish realistic, meaningful goals for treatment. By the end of our first session, you can expect to have a better understanding of the therapeutic process, a preliminary treatment plan, and a clear direction for our work together.
As a therapist, my greatest strengths are my ability to build authentic therapeutic relationships, provide direct yet compassionate feedback, and tailor treatment to each client's unique needs. I value cultural humility and recognize the important role that identity, lived experiences, and systemic factors play in a person's mental health and overall well-being. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I integrate evidence-based interventions from multiple therapeutic modalities to best support each client's goals. I believe therapy should be both insightful and practical. While we will explore the underlying patterns contributing to your current challenges, we will also focus on developing concrete skills and strategies that can be applied outside of session. My goal is to help clients increase self-awareness, strengthen resilience, improve their relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change that extends beyond the therapy room.
I am best positioned to work with adults who are ready to actively engage in the therapeutic process and create meaningful change. My ideal clients are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, or cultural identity issues and are looking for both deeper insight and practical strategies to improve their well-being. While I welcome individuals from all backgrounds, I have extensive experience supporting BIPOC clients and those navigating the impact of cultural, racial, and systemic stressors. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and direct. I work well with clients who are open to self-reflection, willing to challenge unhelpful patterns, and committed to applying what they learn outside of session. By integrating evidence-based approaches such as CBT, Adlerian Therapy, psychodynamic therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and attachment-based interventions, I help clients build self-awareness, strengthen resilience, improve relationships, and develop the skills needed to create lasting, meaningful change.

Adlerian
In my practice, I use Adlerian Therapy to help clients understand how early experiences, family dynamics, relationships, and beliefs about themselves may influence their current patterns. Together, we explore the motivations, goals, and coping strategies behind their behaviors while identifying beliefs that may be contributing to feelings of inadequacy, disconnection, or self-doubt. This approach is collaborative and empowering, helping clients develop greater self-awareness, strengthen their sense of belonging, and make more intentional choices. By challenging limiting beliefs and recognizing their ability to create change, clients can move forward with greater confidence, purpose, and direction in their personal and professional lives.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we examine unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge distorted beliefs, and develop healthier, more balanced ways of responding to life's challenges. CBT is a practical, goal-oriented approach that equips clients with evidence-based coping strategies they can apply outside of session. I frequently use CBT to support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, low self-esteem, and difficulties with stress management. By increasing self-awareness and practicing new ways of thinking and responding, clients are better able to reduce emotional distress, improve daily functioning, and create meaningful, lasting change.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
Culturally responsive care is a foundational part of my practice. I recognize that culture, identity, family dynamics, systemic influences, and lived experiences all shape how individuals understand themselves, navigate relationships, and experience mental health. I strive to create an inclusive, affirming environment where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered to bring their full selves into the therapy space. Rather than making assumptions, I approach each client with curiosity, humility, and respect for their unique experiences and values. I work collaboratively to understand how cultural, racial, ethnic, spiritual, gender, and other aspects of identity may influence their concerns, strengths, and goals. By integrating culturally responsive practices into treatment, I help clients process identity-related experiences, navigate cultural and systemic stressors, and develop strategies that align with their values while supporting meaningful, lasting growth.
Psychoanalytic
I incorporate psychodynamic therapy to help clients explore how past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious patterns may be influencing their current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By increasing insight into these underlying dynamics, clients can better understand recurring patterns, relationship difficulties, emotional responses, and coping strategies that may no longer serve them. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, psychodynamic therapy encourages deeper self-awareness and lasting personal growth. As clients develop a greater understanding of the factors shaping their experiences, they are better equipped to make intentional choices, improve their relationships, and create meaningful, sustainable change in their lives.
Gestalt
I incorporate Gestalt Therapy to help clients develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and patterns of interaction in the present moment. This approach encourages clients to fully experience and explore what is happening in the here and now, allowing them to identify unmet needs, unresolved emotions, and recurring patterns that may be contributing to current challenges. Through increased self-awareness and experiential techniques, clients learn to recognize how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another and the choices they make. Gestalt Therapy helps clients take greater ownership of their experiences, improve emotional awareness, and make intentional changes that support healthier relationships, increased authenticity, and lasting personal growth.

Its only been one session but I love that she is solution oriented. She seems to have a clear plan on how to navigate what I am going through. I personally love that she is great and directing the conversation when I ramble and lose my train of thought
