Demetrius K. Jifunza is a passionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Florida, providing individual, couples, and family therapy and mental health treatment to formerly incarcerated individuals and the families of loved ones currently incarcerated. I have worked with clients with diverse backgrounds consisting of a wide range of concerns, including depression, trauma, anxiety, life transitions, and grief and loss.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background working with adults, adoptees, and trauma. My therapeutic approach revolves around building a relationship with my clients and establishing the core issue of what is a challenge for them by facilitating a place for them to be transparent with themselves, judgment-free. I have experience working with all walks of life and have held an assortment of different roles in the field working with social services, foster care, adoption, and healthcare. I earned my undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Sociology at Florida Atlantic University (2005). I have a master’s in counseling at Barry University (2013), where I specialized in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy. My primary objective as your therapist is to listen and support without judgment. I believe that mental health crisis and difficulties in life are great opportunities for improvement and change.
