LMHC, 5 years of experience
New to Grow
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. I moved to Florida from Nashville but have roots in Mississippi and Virginia. I graduated from the University of Phoenix in April of 2014 with a Bachelors of Science in Health Administration. I used that degree to enroll at Capella University where I earned a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in March of 2021. My passion for counseling started when I was very young. In my teenage years I participated in groups that worked to prevent teen suicide. This interest eventually worked its way into my adult life as a career in the mental health field. My first position after graduating with my Masters was assisting individuals whose substance abuse lead to involvement in the criminal justice system. Building on that, I also have experience with Veterans' issues, grief and loss, eating disorders, LGBTQ+, relationships, depression, anxiety, social fears and many other mental health diagnoses. I don’t believe that there is a one size fits all approach to an individual’s mental health. I use a wide range of techniques to best help my clients to achieve the goals they set forth during their time in treatment by developing strategies and coping skills to achieve optimal mental health.
During the first session, I just want to get to know you. What brings you here? What are your goals? What would you like to see transpire in therapy. There is no judgement and I just want to know what makes you you in order to best help you.
I will be your biggest cheerleader during therapy. I am here to walk beside you, not in front or behind you, and as long as you are ready to walk, we will. If you also need to just sit and have someone to talk to, I will be that for you. This a journey that we will work on together will empathy, care, and hope.
Ideal clients are the ones who want to better themselves; I'm here to help.
CBT is used to challenge validity of thoughts; used most often to reframe the way you think and talk to yourself and ways in which it can help in relationships and environmental situations.
This modality of therapy is used to help you find solutions, based on your strengths, that are achievable.
Communication, infidelity, boundaries, people pleasing, and love languages are just some of the issues couples, I see, face. All of these and more are individualized to clients to help strengthen the bonds of your relationship.
You are here for your well-being. You are first when it comes it your time in therapy; using the person-centered therapy will help you find out how you feel about things and work through them, externally.
Positive psychology, a form in which your strengths and hope are what powers forward in your help and recovery from trauma, crises, and issues you are facing presently.
