Hello! My name is Laura and I am an LCSW with 6 years of experience with therapy and 10 years of experience in the field. I have worked in several different non-profits including ones working with the LGBTQ+ community, substance use and SPMI. I am trained to work with CBT, ACT, MI, DBT, and CPT. Outside of work I enjoy playing board games, baking, reading and crafts of all kinds.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I aim to provide a safe place to learn to identify your emotions, fears and needs so that you can work towards building better boundaries and increasing safety and security within yourself and your environment. In the first few sessions we will work to identify your primary needs in therapy and identify what strategies resonate with you most. It is important to me that each one of my clients feels that their treatment is built for them and I want to make sure you feel like you have agency in what therapy will look like for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Clients who have enjoyed working with me in the past have reported appreciating my knowledge, honesty and willingness to be wrong. These are all things I try to instill in session. I want us to balance finding empathy for yourself and identifying what changes are needed to make your life a happier one.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working the most with LGBTQ+ clients. I am also very equipped to work with clients who deal with a lot of emotional dysregulation and difficulty managing stressful situations. I want to work with you to clarify what you want your life to look like and to make your life feel more manageable. I also have a lot of experience working with anxiety, substance use, couples and trauma.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have training in ACT and find it to be very useful for people with anxiety and who are at crossroads with life. Learning to have distance from your thoughts and centering values and goals can be really helpful in getting unstuck.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been trained in CBT and have used it with clients for many years. I use CBT more loosely as it is needed in session.

Gender-affirming therapy

I have several years of experience providing gender affirming care and providing letters of support.

Couples Counseling

I have experience working with couples, particularly queer couples, and helping them manage communication concerns and improving compatibility.
